Telemachus and his four mythological wives.
Homer left Telemachus’s fate untold, so Greeks and Romans filled the gaps in Post-Homeric Tradition, linking him (and Odysseus) to many possible women.
But which myth feels most true?

Polycaste is mentioned in the third canto of the Odyssey as the youngest daughter of Nestor, king of Pylos. In one episode, she provides Telemachus with hospitality, helping him take a bath and put on clean clothes. Later sources, in particular Hesiod, claim that Telemachus married Polycaste in the future, and their son Persepolis was born. However, in earlier texts, such as the writings of Homer and Pseudo-Apollodorus, this version is not confirmed. The idea of marriage probably originated in later mythological traditions to fill in the gaps that some epic lovers saw in The Odyssey. The myth of Telemachus's union with Circe goes back to the restored summary of the "Telegony" by Eugammon of Cyrene. According to these fragments, Odysseus' son, Telegonus, born of Circe, accidentally kills his father and returns to the island of Aeaea, taking Penelope and Telemachus with him, where Telemachus marries Circe. Although Pseudo-Apollodorus himself does not speak directly about marriage, he mentions Telegonus in his "Library". According to the ending of their story, Circe granted Telemachus immortality. However, whether they were happy together is anyone's guess. The marriage of Telemachus with Nausicaa, the daughter of Alcinous, has no clear confirmation in ancient texts. In Homer's poem, Nausicaa shows hospitality to Odysseus, Telemachus' father, and offers him her help and support. However, there is no direct or indirect interaction between Nausicaa and Telemachus. Some modern researchers suggest that the marriage of Telemachus and Nausicaa could symbolize the continuation of friendship between the Phaeacians and Ithaca, but there is no direct evidence of the development of these relations, and this version remains rather hypothetical. Cassiphone, in some sources is called the daughter of Circe. Later mythological interpretations claim that Telemachus married her, but there was a conflict between him and Circe, which led to Circe's death. In revenge, Cassiphone killed Telemachus. This plot is found in William Smith's Dictionary of Greek and Roman Biography and Mythology, but is not confirmed in ancient texts. Perhaps this version is a very edited adaptation of the "Telegony".

As someone who did not immediately read the Iliad and the Odyssey (and started with the Odyssey altogether, being afraid of the size and complexity of the Iliad), I was surprised that the story of Achilles, whose character is very often drawn nowadays due to the modern reinterpretation of THIS aspect of his story, does NOT take place in the Iliad (at least the one you've probably read)! The poem mentions only Hector's prediction, which states that Achilles will be struck by the arrow of Paris, led by Apollo, the god of light, but no more. Achilles' death itself became the subject of discussion from the surviving fragments that came to later authors, and they, in turn, described it from beginning to end.
