I think the best new fiction comes from indie presses, I enjoy translated fiction, experimental fictional, "forgotten gems," and Ancient Greek classics. My comfort reads are 20th C British women authors and Historical Fiction.

I don't believe the young man who shot CK was mentally ill. It was tragic & wrong, but he was taught that guns are good (family pics included guns!) & necessary to protect loved ones and protect against tyranny. He took an action he was raised to believe is just.

Elon Musk in response to some guy nominating Musk for Nobel Peace Prize, "I don't want any prizes." In similar news my mom nominated me for Nobel Peace Prize because, "what would I do without you?" I too stated, "I don't want any prizes." That should narrow the field for other nominees

This is wild. I’ve had bad clickbaity headlines pit on op-eds before - headlines that have led to social media pile ons, but never this kind of reversal of my intent
My first and definitely last time working with the Los Angeles Times. Editing out the most urgent point of an OpEd in the minutes before sending to press while then also assigning a title and image that suggest an argument entirely opposite to the author’s clear intent is pretty shitty.

The alleviation of women's abuse "is made less likely by the mandated subservience of women by Christian fundamentalists. What is especially disappointing...is the docile acceptance by so many strong Christian women of their subjugation & restricted role." - Jimmy Carter (RIP)

Jimmy Carter truly was a public servant. I say that with great admiration. He really served humanity.

Just a reminder that your local library has more than books! Many also have dvds, cds, video games, game systems, internet hot spots, streaming services, ebooks, audio books, park passes, museum passes, and so much more! Maybe it's time for a visit! ❤️📚
