Ro is the master of saying something everyone can agree with and then never following through and choosing to do bad things instead.

It doesn't actually matter if Chuck Schumer votes for this or not.

If he can't keep his caucus unified to protect healthcare for over 10 million Americans, he should resign as leader.

If there was one thing I wished more people understood, it’s this.
He told them to vote. Schumer loves doing this shit. He picked the senators who were retiring or not up for reelection next year and then voted no himself so he could pretend to be clean. He’s done this before.

So the vote is 56-40. Cornyn hasn't voted, maybe looking over his shoulder at Paxton. (The deal torches House GOP appropriations on 3 bills.) Rick Scott, Mike Lee & Ron Johnson are holding out in the back of the chamber.
Hardline Rs aren't likely to save Democrats from themselves, but it's amusing.

Republicans have a big problem- they've so singularly committed to Trump that all these elections become referendums on him, but also don't show up to vote when he's not literally on the ballot

Finally got around to watching the NYC mayoral debate and I honestly kind of respect the hell out of Sliwa.

This guy is exactly like any random asshole on Staten Island and I’m glad those folks have someone they can see themselves in and vote for.

Also, Cuomo clearly has a humiliation fetish.

There is simply no equivalent, not even close, of this anywhere on the center or far left. There is no ‘both sides’ here, media.
"Together, the messages reveal a culture where racist, antisemitic and violent rhetoric circulate freely — and where the Trump-era loosening of political norms has made such talk feel less taboo among those positioning themselves as the party’s next leaders."

Can't call them fascists?

It’s pretty wild how much smoke Trump has for a guy that arguably won him the election in 2016 by flagrantly disregarding the longstanding norm of not letting an active investigation interfere in an ongoing election.

This is quite the post.

1. He unambiguously directs his AG to go after those who investigated him for his crimes

2. He admits being influenced by online chatter

He is mob bossing out in the open, because he knows he has corrupted every federal law enforcement agency into submission.

Greed only goes so far when you have to personally labor for what you have. But money separates work from its rewards. It allows one to enjoy the fruits of OTHER people's labor--potentially millions of other people.

i have said this before but when “getting rid of race in admissions” for the administration means “you can’t even try to reach out to underrepresented communities and encourage them to apply and if you do it is illegal discrimination against white people” then the actual goal here is segregation

I really do think Ezra Klein needs to be held to account for why he gets to keep his columnist job, as a white man, for saying CK was "practicing politics the right way" while Karen Attiah, a Black woman, loses her columnist job for quoting what CK said about Black women.

Someone, plz ask him.

This is why that Taylor Lorenz scoop about influencer dark money funding was relevant - those same influencers would certainly be offered pay by this entity to STFU about Israel at minimum.

Maybe some folks in NYC would say “Chris Van Who?”, but if you asked them who Hakeem Jeffries is, they would know - he’s the spineless weasel lying about representing them.

Seeing an attempt at a weird type of white-washing of Kirk popping up about how people close to him are sharing that he didn’t actually believe the vile shit he spread, and I don’t understand how that’s supposed to make him seem better.

it is not civil when an evil person says evil things in a calm tone of voice.

conversely, it is not uncivil when a good person uses curse words to denounce evil things at the top of their voice.

it is evil to pretend not to understand this.

condemnations of political violence are well taken but it does feel as if some
prominent political commentators are of the view that violence isn’t a part of the history of American politics and that is very much not true.
