Mostly Alexandria gossip, snark, and bitching about HUD stupidity.

Alexandria is cooler than where you live

Housing prices are set by supply and demand. Housing is distributed according to people’s ability to pay. If we don’t allow new development at the high end of the market, rich people will outbid the poor for the best available existing housing. Building and operating homes costs money.
World anyone be willing to chop about six inches of hair off for me? Doesn't need to be professional grade, just better than I could manage by myself

Shall we take bets on how many Bay Photo packages will be awaiting me upon my return home? And how many reminders to pick up said packages I will receive?

I feel like today is a good day for me to share with female-presenting people the good news of our lady and savior, Gloria Vanderbilt ponte pants.

I have found another one of the limited use cases for AI: summarizing product reviews when there are 100+ of them. I mean, I like it when products have lots of reviews, but I only have so much time to wade through them.

I am extremely annoyed. I wanted dinner at Mia's but they weren't serving outside and they wouldn't let me get the prix fixee menu to go. The only option was the crowded bar area, which is le nope for me. Hopefully something near the Mall will be open

I heard someone’s Starbucks order called out as “Grande Chai Latte” and realized they were just telling “Big Tea Milk” in like, three different languages.

Good morning to Brazilian reporter Manuela Borges, who’s been waiting eleven years for this petty moment. ❤️ 🇧🇷

I really hate the thing where City departments are asked to cut budgets and then ACPS rocks up twenty minutes late with Starbucks and expects their over-budget funding request to be approved.

I have a fancy new travel tripod!

Just dropped this elsewhere, so boosting, since the illegal-orders discussion is back in the news: there's some great GI Rights Hotline postcards and leaflets for printing and distributing, but here's one with the absolute basic message and phone number as a label template.
I've seen a bunch of people sharing leaflet and postcard-sized versions of the GI Rights Hotline info, but I haven't seen any templates designed for label printing, so 30 seconds with the Avery template maker made the simplest possible version with the absolute basics (to be seen from a distance).

Impossible how good reading is. You mean I just point my face at the paper for a bit and it does a whole update on my brain?

It has been a day. I missed my train (damn you King Street traffic!), got on the wrong bus, and it starting raining while I was waiting for one going the right direction.

But! My faith in Alexandria is totally justified by the nice lady who leaned out her car window and offered me an umbrella.

good time to plug freetaxusa.org which I've used for years -- uncomplicated and no bullshit (and yes it is free for federal taxes, you only pay to file state taxes)

Oh god, it me.
Give me a deadline and I'll knock out a 5 hour task in 2 hours.

Give me 2 weeks for a 5 hour task, and I'll knock it out in the last 2 hours, and be miserable the entire 2 weeks
