I would rather live next door to someone who speaks another language than live next door to someone who doesn’t want to live near people who speak other languages. I know nothing about Person A but I know person B is a shitbird.
Vance says it is "totally reasonable and acceptable" for people to not want to live next door to people who speak a different language than they do

let’s look back at what has happened so far

Cory Booker giving a 25 hour speech: everyone loved it, raised his profile

Van Hollen flies to El Salvador and meets Abrego Garcia: everyone loved it, raised his profile

Schumer publicly caved: everyone hated that

just a general note to Dems
i have no doubt that senator van hollen was genuinely concerned for the safety and welfare of abrego garcia BUT ALSO this is what i'm talking about when i say POLITICAL AMBITION. van hollen may well make himself a household name and nationally recognized political figure with this move

Remember that the Trump admin really does not like people pointing out that Maryland dad Kilmar Abrego García is a Maryland dad so just keep making sure to point out that Maryland dad Kilmar Abrego García is a Maryland dad.

@vanhollen.senate.gov @alsobrooks.senate.gov - are the two of you supporting this?
Cory Booker has taken the Senate floor and plans to filibuster as long as he’s physically able to protest the complete disregard for the rule of law by Trump and Musk.

I hope he has an awful week.
Chuck Schumer: "Look, we've got to get this government funding thing done now. I've got a book tour next week. I don't have time for some long, drawn-out fight."

And so now, anytime anyone insists that Schumer is just articulating a principled position as to the limits of the possible, the rebuttal is simple, clear, and obvious.

"He fucking lied about the CR, knowing he was going to sell us out. Why do you think he's not lying now?"

Working in cybersecurity we all have past experiences working in the help desk or server closets or wherever but I wonder if AI and such take over those entry level roles, where will the next generation learn their chops? Do we risk having people with less experience at higher level roles?

Sad to hear about the passing of Tom Robbins at age 92. Skinny Legs and All, Half Asleep in Frog Pajamas, Jitterbug Perfume, Still Life with Woodpecker, and Even Cowgirls Get the Blues were foundational books in my life. I read them in high school and it changed a lot of what I thought fiction was.

It’s going to be weird in a year or so when we’re all talking about the Comstock Act since I read the book The Future of Another Timeline by Annalee Newitz last year. Comstock figures heavily into the plot and it seemed unlikely when I read it. Now I’m not so sure.

8yo learning typing. She gets points by accuracy and wpm. “I need to get to 90% accuracy and 16 womp speed for 3 stars” … I will be referring to typing speed as womp speed from now on. 😁
