In a week filled with unpleasantness and uncertainty it was a bright moment when we received a copy of this book at our library. It is a thing of beauty, one of 50 copies printed. Melville’s Billy Budd, illustrations by the great Barry Moser.

Looking over the eye-watering prices realized in the Christie’s auction of Owen Gingerich’s library. Wow. I thought the estimates were low on many of them!
