Old guy. I like sports, folk/country, politics, and books. San Jose State University grad.
Time for me to recalibrate. I celebrated my 77th birthday in Jan. I resigned from the county Dem Central Committee. Still will be involved in local water policy and fighting ageism.

In the wake of this week’s deadly aircraft collision near Washington, President Trump happily jumped to conclusions and pulled the U.S. apart rather than together, Peter Baker writes. "He has long demonstrated that he is more comfortable as the blamer in chief than consoler in chief."
From Anguish to Aggression: Trump Goes on Offense After Midair Collision

The thing to understand about Trump is like in his first term, he doesn’t want to govern. He doesn’t want to learn. He wants to campaign and look good.

Republicans know this. So there are battles going on right now to take control of the actual process of governing.

So Greece gets the (fake) boobie prize.
Donald Trump has selected his son’s girlfriend and Ex of California Governor Gavin Newsom, Kimberly Guilfoyle, to be the U.S ambassador to Greece.

Amazing that a conservative prep school grad murderer is making the best case for universal healthcare.
It's not the Robin Hood story folks wanted but attractive, well-heeled young guy who had back surgery, unrelenting pain to the point of impacting his mental health. He withdraws from his peeps, eventually goes to a dark place, and eventually takes it out on insurance CEO.

Still relatable.

@sjsuathletics.bsky.social I'm interested in an analysis of Sparta's early recruiting class. The Merc is so biased in favor of Stanford and Cal they don't give SJSU much attention.

What if a team could choose one at-bat in every game to send its best hitter to the plate even if it wasn’t that guy’s turn to hit?

@jaysonst.bsky.social introduces the Golden At-Bat concept, a rule that could invoke the ire of the baseball gods.

I just finished a very good little (207 pages) novel, "Headshot" by Rita Bullwinkle. It's an unconventional subject (teenage girls competitive boxing) with terrific character development.
