Look up to the sky. A million wanderers are leaving trails in the dark.

This will eventually be an 18+ Furry VN/RPG. For now, I'm just holding the name.

Dev: @brunoburrito.bsky.social
Also! I updated the logo. A clearer intent and direction.

I hope you are ready to find your own path through the world of Everwild!

The script continues to grow the more I rework it.

Chapter 1:
v1: 2826 words
v2: 3275 words (+15.9%)
v3: 3364 words (+2.7%)

Chapter 2:
v1: 3274 words
v2: 4671 words (+42.67%)
v3: 5630 words (+20.5%)

But it just keeps getting better...

If only I didn't have FIVE more chapters to go through!

Deceptibly complex system for "Having an audio track play while you hover a volume slider".

I just didn't want it to keep restarting the same track. And I wanted it to keep working even if you dragged outside of its bounds.

~90 lines of code and... it works fine enough.

Still far from done, I've written ~14K words, and I'm only on day 3 out of 7, but...

The 40 page long document is getting a little unruly to read as is.
So I started to work on a bit of the visuals...

Well. Watching that video got me inspired to make a smaller, shorter VN in-engine for #Gnollvember.

"A pack of gnolls, Seekers in the age of darkness, run into a strange soothsayer, who claims the end of the world can only be prevented through ritual sacrifice of a worthy leader."

Some days game dev is cracking down an algorythm for dungeon generation.

Some days game dev is listening to a video essay on the genre you're working on. Realizing an even tighter scope might be right.

"Limitations breed creativity."

I had never understood the impact of the sentence until I decided to lean into pixel stuff for the vibe and feel of the game, outside of the VN segments.

Suddenly, each card having a 38x25 image makes it feel so much more approachable.

Making your first game is a lot of: "WOAH THIS WOULD BE SO COOL" and then remembering it's probably too much for what you want the game to be/focus on...

... after having coded 80% of the thing in your manic haze.

Been a bit since I last ACTIVELY worked on this, but I figured out a better workflow and I'll start doing some development again!

Small little demos of each system are likely the way to go, and then I can combine everything together when I'm satisfied with how things play and feel.

Was starting to head off to bed, but I was suddenly hit with the realization...

I don't yet have any bears planned for Wanderlust.

I should fix that...

First concept of the protagonist. The Jaguar.

I'm still refining the art style I want for this project's characters... but I think this is closing into what feels uniquely mine.

I was thinking I might as well start using this account to talk about my experience making this li'l game.

A thread, for posterity.
