Argh. I participated in a project that has a celebration event tonight and I have to decide whether I want to make the trek to Southie. Where with traffic ubering is about the same time as the T.

I know if I don't go I'll have some FOMO but I don't know if it's enough to force myself to go.

So, listen, call Schumer’s office no matter where you live, no matter if you’re registered to vote. Leave a voicemail that says if Senate Dems cave without an ACA premiums fix, you will never vote for or donate to another Senate Democrat as long as he is Leader
Call them:

Schumer (NY)
202 224-6542

Booker (NJ)
202 224-3224

King (ME)
202 224-5344

Hassan (NH)
202 224-3324

Durbin (IL)
202 224-2152

Ossoff (GA)
202 224-3521

Shaheen (NH)
202 224-2841

Gillibrand (NY)
202 224-4451

Masto (NV)

Warner (VA)

Can you call Chuck Schumer right now? No matter where you live, can you take a few minutes and tell Schumer that if Senate Democrats cave you will not support Senate Dems as long as he is leader?

Skipped the compression socks yesterday. Not 100% sure if I was more uncomfortable as a result but I'm wearing a pair today. And I have a pair for the car ride home tomorrow.

Back up in Maine. I've received feedback on the novel. I think the best way to describe the vibe is folks can tell I was a track changes hoarder and the document is more like a house with renos and additions tacked on.

Need a new document to start fresh. Or could find another idea to work on.
But here's the light fixture I always take a photo of at the start of our (super casual) writing retreat

A (tongue in cheek) existential crisis: is 37 still mid 30s or late 30s? 😜

Doesn't matter much to me I never feel my actual calendar age, I always feel a few years younger.

This birthday/election cycle has been the least stressful one for me in years, probably since 2019. It would have been different if Michelle Wu's challenger wasn't a billionaire carpetbagger trying to cosplay as "the common man" and stayed in the race for the general.

Heading to the office for a few hours before PT today. I'm using uber and bringing my crutches. MGH PT is a half mile from the office... down super steep Bowdoin Street.

I don't have any restrictions from the surgeon, but I think having the crutches when I know I'll be walking will be a good idea.

Quirks of an older house. There is no overhead lighting in our front room. I'm too comfortable on the couch to move. But at least I got 25 pages into a new book before the light got too dim.

I have my "going out in public" sweats and my "not leaving the house" sweats.

Not sure how long I'm supposed to keep wearing compression socks after I get my sutures out so I bought some from Bombas. (15-20 mmgh). Seeing the surgeon again on Tuesday.

I don't think I've ever had an Uber driver cancel on me as I see them pull up. Until now. I know it happens all the time for disabled folks who use mobility aids or have white canes and/or service animals.

Need to do laundry but I only have 1 load of quarters left. Wonder if I can get a roll at Market Basket tomorrow. I usually get them at my bank... Which is downtown.

Donate to the Greater Boston Food Bank if you can. They seed donations to smaller pantries across the region. When you help them, you help a lot of people.

I know I have to listen to my body but it's hard to quash the "oh I'll be symptomatic no matter what I do" mentality. I have to be patient and literally keep my feet up and wear compression socks.

Speaking of Trek fandom: I went to Star Trek Las Vegas in 2016. Beyond had just come out so I was trying to pose like Jaylah on the Captain's chair. (The last time I went to STLV)

women are absolutely the reason modern fandom exists, and you can even trace the origin of the term "slash [fic]" to women!

it's frustrating to see men know nothing (or not caring) about what women have contributed to society while pretending they add so much.

I’m not a Trekkie but I’ve done enough basic research into the Star Trek fandom to know women basically invented it, and are why the show even continued to exist. This kind of writing is part of institutional sexism that denies women’s accomplishments and role in history and it infuriates me

p.s. more babes who smash the narrative of "only conservative men like star trek" should totally post cool photos of themselves and their friends doing cool trek things, because if nothing else, it'll bring this skyline some needed joy and beauty <3
Loving the call for visibility in response to erasure. Here are four photos representing some of my involvement in Trek fandom, from Trektivism panels to leading the STLV LGBTQIA+ Annual Photo Op and participating on the Trek Talks team that’s helped raise almost half a million dollars for HoFoCo 🖖🏼

Grey's Anatomy
Abbott (which I haven't started the new season yet)

Mom won't see this but I want you all to know I'm super grateful for her. I ended up staying longer at her place than I expected. The pain/discomfort kinda ramped up last Wednesday/Thursday. So she took me back to the apartment where I picked up my work laptop.

Very considerate of my green line train to become disabled at Copley so I could walk to the orange line. I could tell something was wrong by how we *crawled* from Hynes to Copley. Good thing we ran express from Coolidge Corner to St. Mary's. #mbta

Chanel has been trying to buy a new wheelchair van for months. It's a huge deal for someone to basically be confined to their immediate surrounding streets because they don't have adequate transportation. If you can donate, any amount helps. Shares are free, and those help too.
Typically I’d be making plans to see my favorite teams hit the ice this season but wheelchair van sadly died in May.

Fortunately, this amazing community has helped me & I’m hoping that continues!

If you see this please share!
