A RAND study found $79 trillion was stolen from the bottom 90%.

Red tape is bad & should be fought, but America's biggest problem is not red tape reducing abundance.

America's biggest problem is oligarchs hoarding the abundance.

Glad to be quoted with Bernie Sanders in NY Magazine.

I struggle to relate to “abundance” as a political strategy, but not for the ideological reasons Chait names here. Abundance fails to address the devastation of economic inequality, and it dissociates from our climate crisis. Chait really misses these points completely.
The Coming Democratic Civil War
A seemingly wonky debate about the “abundance agenda” is really about power.

15 years ago the Supreme Court decided corporations are people under the First Amendment.

Today, billionaire political spending is up 160-fold since that ruling.

Citizens United is among the worst decisions in history. It corrupts our system every day.

Just a reminder that America will in fact crush fascism.

It will take a while and it will be messy.
But bet on it.

Trump’s party controls Congress & the courts, which means they could repeal spending & close agencies thru legislation.

Trump is *choosing* to instead do it thru through extra-legal actions. That’s a feature not a bug: they are trying to destroy checks & balances…and democracy.

I honestly believe our most powerful position in a toxic time that feeds on cynicism, apathy,& despair is to genuinely care and act for a better world.

Cynicism is our enemy. We should check it, incl. on the left. It’s not intellectually superior. It’s the virus they’re trying to infect us with. NO

There's a "nobody is to blame"/"nobody coulda predicted" throughline in how Dems explain the world - whether it's their complicity in the Iraq War, the dereg that created the financial crisis, or both Trump wins.

Nobody is responsible for anything, there are no villains, shit just happens! Weird!
