With regard to events in the Caribbean, it appears that Hegseth's obsession with "lethality" might come back to bite him where it really hurts.
December 1, 2025 at 9:23 PM
The election of Donald Trump, with all his baggage, clearly shows that critical thinking skills are not common in the electorate. Some "man in the street" interviews show astonishing stupidity ("how many dimes in a dollar" got no answer at all). Our primary and secondary education system has failed.

Trump's Nat'l Guard deployment has cost the life of a young woman. Now Hegseth is eager to risk the lives of others in Venezuela. Citizens will fight to defend their homeland. Invasion of Venezuela will be bloody. There is no pressing need for the planned operation. It must be cancelled.

I wish I could be sure that our country will survive Trump and the MAGA cult. If we survive, may our government resemble what it looked like it did during the Obama administration than it does now, during the administration of this wannabe dictator.

The Israeli genocide in Gaza continues. The Trump peace plan failed, to no one's surprise.

While Captain (now Senator) Kelly was risking his life flying combat missions, Trump was busy amassing a fortune and Hegseth was getting drunk and dancing onstage with "exotic dancers." Kelly is a genuine American hero. Trump, Hegseth, and MAGA represent all that is wrong with this country today.

In the ongoing struggle between Trump and Sen. Kelly, I'm siding with the senator. Trump, the draft dodger, never understood the profound commitment military people have for their oath, our Constitution, and their loyalty to all that this country stood for before Trump and MAGA.
November 25, 2025 at 4:32 PM
As a retired USN officer, my loyalties are to the Constitution and the oath I took 69 years ago. With regard to the matter involving Sen. Kelly, the senator was exactly right and, in any case, he was repeating what the military has been teaching for many years.

In a normal world, when an esteemed member of a group is falsely accused, other members come to his or her defense. But when Sen. Mark Kelly, a member of the Senate, is not only falsely accused, but threatened with hanging, other members of the Senate are quiet. That's called moral cowardice.
November 24, 2025 at 10:14 PM
Sen. Mark Kelly has done more for his country than the idiot Hegseth will ever accomplish. As a USN combat pilot, astronaut, and senator, Kelly has demonstrated skill, intelligence, and bravery. He did this while Hegseth was getting drunk and making a fool out of himself with exotic dancers.
November 24, 2025 at 8:15 PM
NYT reports that the SecDef, Hegseth, threatened combat veteran and astronaut Mark Kelly with an "inquiry" b/c of Kelly's allegedly "seditious" comment about military personnel no being obligated to obey illegal orders. Hegseth is an ignorant, arrogant, misogynistic ass.

It is in the best interests of the United States, Ukraine, Europe, and democracies around the world to work for peace with dignity for Ukraine. And yet, as always, Trump's bromance with Putin and the opportunity for Trump to make a profit take precedence. Shameful! Disgracing.

Mr. Piggy Trump called six veterans "traitors," and suggested they should be executed. These six veterans deserve our thanks, not ugly ad hominem attacks and threats. Trump, on the other hand, never served a day and had his daddy buy a doctor to come up with a phony diagnosis.

More evidence that the Trump/Witkoff “peace plan” for Ukraine came straight from the Russians - it uses Russian syntax.

The events of Jan. 6 were an attempt to undermine the Constitution to permit Trump to seize power. That effort was led by Trump. His attempt to whitewash Jan. 6 do not alter the facts: his actions and those of followers were a treasonous effort to seize power and that makes him a traitor.

MAGA Mike Johnson is a liar and a fool. It has been U.S. policy for many years that military personnel have duty to refuse to carry out illegal orders. Trump, who avoided his military duty, is a coward, a liar, and a traitor. He should have been tried and imprisoned.

Forcing Ukraine to accept the surrender plan drawn up by Putin and his pal Mr. Piggy is a disgrace. It is also a betrayal.
November 20, 2025 at 11:50 AM
The Trump peace plan for Ukraine, which Mr. Piggy worked out with his Russian friend, Putin, is actually a plan for Ukraine to surrender unilaterally. Shame on the Trump administration fot engaging in this horrific and immoral deal.

This is a financial alarm bell that cannot be ignored, but I suspect it will be be. Too much money. Too much greed.

The truth of Lord Acton's adage about "Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely," was never more clearly demonstrated until the Trump administration came to power. This was foreseen by the founders when they wrote a constitution that distributed and balanced power.

The problem with MAGA is that they are in the wrong country and in the wrong century. Real Americans will never be persuaded that Nazi ideology will be acceptable here in the 21st century.

Trump is far too stupid to realize that no one ever won a war. And certainly he didn't. Note also that even while talking about winning wars, he didn't mention the veterans.

One thing that is not affected by presidential pardons is history. What was done, was done. Misuse of the power of presidential power is in keeping with this president's willingness to act like an authoritarian, ignoring our Constitution, our laws, and norms that evolved during our history.

Trump is a traitor. That is a fact; he proved it on Jan. 6. What does that say about his supporters, including those in the judiciary?
