The people of Hateno Village are all, "Woe is us, we're just a poor little village. Good thing we at least have this textile industry to keep us afloat."
Meanwhile Link hops down their well once a day and mines emeralds from the caves under the village. And he doesn't tell anyone about it.

If I were to say "my favorite fishing method is electrocution" you guys would have me arrested.
But if I said "my favorite fishing method *in The Legend of Zelda* is electrocution" you'd be fine with it. 😂
Video games are weird.

Many full time creatives have “invisible safety nets” like bread-winning partners, trust funds, external support, etc. No shame on anyone, but it creates a false vision of success. The cost of going to cons alone on top of hoping to eat as a freelancer are untenable, IMO.
When people hear that I'm returning to part time work they often ask "are things not going well with your art?"

The problem really is things are going well, but the world is so unstable that I long for some consistency and income that I don't have to pay quarterly taxes on

Also in keeping with today's #SciFiMonth prompt ("Previously, on SciFi Month"): can you believe I've been participating in SciFi Month since 2014?! It's hard to believe we've been doing this for over a decade! Here's a history of my SciFi Month blog posts:

November has started - suit up, hop aboard and blast off with us for a month of sharing our love for all things SF! #ScifiMonth2025
ScifiMonth 2025: freestyling
Close your eyes. Feel that strange sensation whooshing over your skin? That's the dislocating feeling of being whirled away to another place and time. November is here, which means ScifiMonth when we share our love of a favourite genre with an amazing crew of geeks across the verse. Let's do this!

Actually, #SciFiMonth has prevented me from completely giving up on the Sci Fi genre. I was so bored by most "classic" scifi that I almost felt the genre was dead to me. 🧵
Day 2: previously, on ScifiMonth

Travelled with us before? What SF gem did you read or get introduced to one #ScifiMonth?

First book I completed in 2025 was A Psalm for the Wild-Built by Becky Chambers. I loved this one...a book that is short and sweet and strays from the usual cynicism found in the science fiction genre. Read more here:

God damn I might know something about this but I may have signed an NDA and some NDAs are written without any end date so you have to keep your mouth shut until the end of time.
I legitimately didn't know they were competing with Steam and it's crazy to me that they burnt so much money on what sounds like something with very little (or wildly misguided) market research.
