Don't start with the reference. Sketch out loosely how you want the gesture to feel without worrying about a reference or details and make lines that light up your brain. You'll feel like it's wrong and that you're losing control over your ability to know if the drawing looks correct. It's ok.

what makes me feel at peace with Tears of the Kingdom on top is it feels like the game every previous Zelda has been building towards. the building blocks are all over the series’ history, it truly feels like every element came together for that one. it’s monumental.

I basically agree. There's this element of discovery in the Wild-era Zelda games that flexes their truths as "open world" games. No two adventures are likely to be experienced in the same way. There isn't a right or wrong way to do anything, just your way #Zelda #LegendofZelda
I don't know who needs to hear this but experiencing Tears of the Kingdom's story in beautiful random order makes the game better, not worse.

When Tears of the Kingdom dropped, people were sharing videos of themselves doing cool tricks or building crazy devices. When Echoes of Wisdom dropped a year later, by which time Elon had wrecked everything that made Twitter work, there was nothing.
elon fucking killed a major piece of not only driving game discussion, but also sheer inherent word-of-mouth advertising. it has no doubt kneecapped many small- and mid-sized titles and i can't even tell what big games are popping off right now unless they have a Little Guy people wanna doodle
In a post-Share button world, it's been very hard to tell what games are actually hitting. It takes effort to post clips or fan art.
