🚨 Updated working paper!

Ekin Dursun and I ask what instruments best manipulate emotions on surveys (osf.io/56h4g).

We find that vignettes really work! They have large effects on emotions of interest & smaller effects on emotions *not* of interest.

But as always, it's complicated.👇

So happy to see this out! We have data on 5,000+ voters and 26,000 candidates exploring the effects of sexism across 4 countries 🇨🇦🇺🇸🇬🇧🇦🇺

TLDR: gendered patterns of political competition strongly shape success rates of women candidates. Sexism may lead to voter abstention in the US.
