I'm so heartened. (also: I helped! I voted for my city's council elections! and the Dems swept on policies of free public transit, environmental protections, housing justice, reducing road speeds, renewable energy... all things we need at every level!)

if you're in NYC, go out and vote. get it done, friends.
i hate to be that bitch, but my sources are telling me this early voting data has gotten Zohran's people rightly spooked and y'all better stop assuming this one's in the bag. GOTV
Voter turnout surges in NYC mayor’s race, with Boomers and Gen X leading the charge
The data so far is good news for independent candidate Andrew Cuomo, a political scientist said.

FANTASTIC NEWS! I contacted INPRNT and asked about whether or not this piece would be allowable. I have confirmed it does NOT violate content guidelines and as such "Full Circle" is now available as prints and a sticker! #bskyNightMarket #prints #lion #art

SNAP isn't about "people who don't work." It's about people who don't get paid enough to live.

Of the 40 or so million people who rely on food stamps:

* Two-thirds are children, seniors, or disabled

* Most working-age adults who receive SNAP are employed—but in jobs that pay poverty wages

I wrote quite a bit for #AceWeek, but the piece I’m proudest of is also the most difficult: Why TERFs Don’t Like Asexuals Either

www.pillowfort.social/posts/6789909

An in-depth analysis of what TERFs believe about #asexuality and #asexual people, and why it’s such a common target of theirs.
venatrixlunaris: Why TERFs Don't Like Asexuals Either: An Analysis
Disclaimer: This is an analysis.  This is not a callout post.  I cite posts as evidence in my analysis of how TERFs and GCs talk about asexuality. I do not want anyone who reads this to seek out those...

Just finished @premeemohamed.com 's "The Annual Migration of Clouds". It's an emotionally genuine coming-of-age story, grappling with an all-too-relatable theme: when you don't really have any choices, how do you face being forced to make one?

But you guys. The *world-building*. It's masterful.

I just read The Dragon of Ynys, one of the asexual fantasy icons. It was sweet. It seems so odd that a book published in 2018 and rereleased in 2020 should feel so old and venerable, but in this space, it kinda is, and it has made its niche.

My team is doing its bit to help by maintaining and even expanding our database of funding opportunities for early-career researchers.
