There is no ethical consumption under capitalism.
Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.

Abolish ICE.

I have a headache.

I work in industrial ceramics manufacturing. My plant also produces cast iron and glass.

Without well-managed air filtration and access to NIOSH approved respirators and dust masks, workers like me will be at increased risk of lung conditions like silicosis & mesothelioma, and other organ damage.
🚨 Trump’s HHS just gutted NIOSH—laying off 85% of staff and shuttering key science programs.
🧪 Cancer research for firefighters? Halted.
😷 Respirator safety testing? Ceased.
📉 Decades of public health and worker safety science in jeopardy.

McGovern: He would rather appeal to the highest court in the land to starve people than simply provide them with the food assistance that he is legally obligated to do. That is the Republican policy position. We will give you your food if you let us take away your health care.

It should open with a diamond heist to the tune of DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER
Also 'Bond - the Musical'.

Seriously they wouldn't even need to write any new tunes.

Senators on the brink of retirement who lived full, wealthy lives and never feared the loss of their own healthcare voting for their constituents to die from their inability to afford the same is treasonous

Casual reminder that the myth of “pulling yourself up by your bootstraps” is a cruel hoax designed to convince poor people from all walks of life that the injustices they face are a result of their own actions, rather than an oppressive system rigged against them.

If Senate Dems really cave on this funding bill in exchange for a promise that GOP reps have no intention of fulfilling, then all hope is lost.

Cratering the insurance marker for everyone so that a few wealthy people can take a flight home for Christmas is not compromise, it is capitulation.

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

Without anyone saying a word, everyone involved in this episode knew the risks and the safest path forward. They know, instinctively, how to survive in a declining media organization for one more day — please Trump, Weiss, and Ellison, and everyone’s happy. Piss them off and watch out.

Reddit auto-moderation tools are out of control. What do you mean matching energy with a bully and calling them an ass once is worth a 7-day posting ban?

It would be one thing if it were automatic but this didn't come until almost 16 hours after the post was made. Make it make sense!

Trump still has not followed a court order to release SNAP funds for millions of people.

Meanwhile, he hosted a "Great Gatsby" themed party at Mar-a-Lago this weekend.

And he posted seven times about renovating a White House bathroom with marble and gold.

Priorities.

--Libraries. Free books? Great resources? Yes, please.
--Love. Always, always, always. It can move mountains. (Sometimes, that mountain is your own fear.)
--Not assuming the worst about people.
--Really listening.
--Do not harm, but take no shit.
--Pasta. Wine. Coffee.

I'm proud of Sarah Marshall and her myriad of projects.

The first episode of You're Wrong About is on the satanic panic. It's one of my comfort listens when I can't sleep at night. Now she hosts a whole podcast about the topic, and she did it with help from The CBC!
anyone else feel a weird sense of like, pride in the work of online creators you've been following / supporting via Patreon for a crazy long time

I've loved Red Letter Media's videos for more than a decade and yeah, I actually do feel proud when I think of what they've built and accomplished.

I remember watching a documentary about Struzan's work. In it he talked about being completely engrossed in what the work, improving his craft by any means necessary even when he had no money.

I was never going to reach his level, but I found him inspiring. My heart aches to learn that he's gone.
When you think of iconic movie posters, you think of his work. RIP Drew Struzan, you will always be the gold standard.
