It’s sort of the foundational basis for American democracy. I find “Liberals” who are open to ceding the field on this perplexing. If you want a right wing autocracy you can just vote for Republicans.
Birthright citizenship is like one of the only unequivocally modern elements of the American constitutional order and should be protected at, literally, all costs.

potentially unpopular opinion: we should continue to make fun of the pantone color of the year, but seeing it as a dogwhistle is only going to encourage the real dogwhistlers find new ways to trigger you
Pantone describes its color of the year, “Cloud Dancer,” as “a discrete white hue offering a promise of clarity.” In today’s polarized sociopolitical climate, this selection offers disengagement at best and channels rage-bait at worst.
Pantone’s Color of the Year Sounds About White
After the year we’ve had, going with Cloud Dancer can easily be interpreted as a piercing dog whistle.

see the thing about them all being the worst people in the world is that even when one of them gets killed they can't create a proper cult of martyrdom around him because the others get jealous he's getting all the attention.
I'm not quite sure where to start

I actually disagree here because a lot of my job is suing scumbag eviction attorneys (who are also, legally speaking, debt collectors) and the landlords who hire them. below-market private landlords in particular are fucking demonic.
Most of the crazy and wild shit people on here say about landlords and rentals would be better directed towards the debt collection industry.

That best people in that industry are evil.
your average debt collector routinely breaks the law to steal from poor people, generally with some level of knowledge and callous disregard. there are more altruistic prison guards.

so I have a friend who had Amy Coney Barrett as a prof and she's apparently quite smart and a good but challenging professor. compare to, say, Brett Kavanaugh, a stone-cold idiot with an out-of-control spending problem which he solved by becoming one of the world's premier bribe opportunities
I was least convinced on her bc she was primarily a teacher, but that turns out to be a good thing

sometimes right wing projection is just so over the top and on the nose that you can’t help but wonder if they’re being ironic and self aware
BARTIROMO: How is it possible that the Democrats have been able to rally around 'affordability' and make people think that's what they're focused on and not what Republicans are focused on?
