The Driftless Area that occupies the borderland of Wisconsin/Minnesota/Iowa/Illinois. Beautiful stretch of the Mississippi River valley. Gorgeous bluffs and terrain that wasn’t sheared by glaciers. Amazing deer hunting, bass fishing, and some of the best scenic biking/driving routes in the country.
So much of the country feels homogenous and samey. Tell me some more about American micro-regions that actually have unique economies and cultures. The Imperial Valley. The Oregon Coast. The Iron Range. That part of Northern maine where they all speak French.

The Texas National Guard sent home seven soldiers whose fitness levels seemingly “did not meet mission requirements” for their deployment to Illinois, a Texas Military Department spokesperson confirmed Tuesday. The decision comes after some soldiers were ridiculed on social media.

The Texas National Guard removed seven soldiers from Illinois amid questions about their physical fitness. U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth called it a return to “standards.”

I haven’t ever reviewed this list, but my god is it filled with accounts that I would not find enriching to my feed. Like I maybe tick 20 of the top 200.

It’s probably why I love sports so much on here. Room to breathe and most to the people I’d ever want to “engage” with are here without idiots.
if you can look at it without catching poster’s madness, the list of who actually gets engagement here is pretty interesting. somewhat dire at the top but quickly it’s real and high quality posters.

Why did the DOJ scrub the study that showed right-wing terrorism is the number one domestic terror threat in America?

Also, who leads ANTIFA? Where do they assemble? How about their funding?

Trump is using Kirk's murder as his Reichstag Fire. They will implement martial law and punt the elections.
BREAKING: Trump says he’s designating Antifa as a “major terrorist organization.”

in light of the kimmel news, just a reminder that a few days ago a prominent fox news host literally called for killing homeless people. right afterward, someone shot up a couple homeless encampments.

that fox news host still has his job.
Brian Kilmeade endorses euthanizing homeless people: "Involuntary lethal injection, or something. Just kill them."

Al Michaels leaning into being old is the best. Let’s talk about the moon landing. Let’s remember Cincinnati Reds 1970s playoff runs. Let’s opine about how surprised you were to learn that Curley Lambeau coached Washington in 1952.

I worked at a theater that had Passion of the Christ. People brought children to that thing expecting Sunday school.
Got me thinking.. What's the strongest reaction you've seen an audience member have to a scene in a cinema?

During the birthday party scene in SIGNS I saw a whole row of young women literally throw their popcorn in the air like a cartoon.
Someone in my audience had a very audible negative reaction to the dog scene in TOGETHER. So that was fun!

Just the last 20 years - kind of been 4-star Steve. Not his highest highs, but some pretty great movies. I just noticed this cluster from 9-14 on my Letterbox’d rankings of his films. It was unintentional but it checks out.

Not trying to be a gotcha online boy, but you did ask “what else” on the pod in regards to racing movies.

Last American Hero is awesome. I think the @purecinemapod.bsky.social pod turned me on to that one.

Great bridges. Early Busey. Moonshine plot. Aces.
