I believe we should cap rent prices in Nevada, so they never go up by more than a set amount each year.

Imagine living in a world where you don't have to compete with your neighbors for scraps, because everyone is guaranteed a bare minimum standard of living.

Thank you for writing about my story, Shelterforce! I was proud to do the work mobilizing community members to support stricter habitability laws for Nevada. No one should be forced to live with pests. shelterforce.org/2025/11/18/w...
Why Habitability Is a Growing Rallying Cry
Across the country, tenants and lawmakers are pushing for better standards around habitability: mold, cooling, and more. How did we get here?

Nevadans are worried that they won't be able to afford rent, that they can't put food on the table, or go to the doctor when they're sick. We need real solutions today - not more backroom deals with billionaires.

It is not too much to ask that every person in Nevada earns a living wage. It is obscene to suggest that it is normal for wages to be too low to afford a decent home, gas in your car, and food on your table.

I love my state. I have lived here my whole life.

I believe that we are losing this state to billionaires, who view us as a colony to extract wealth from. Year after year, we continue to give away public money to any billionaire who steps in and asks for it. And in return?

Data centers are coming to Nevada. These resource hoggers threaten to use up water resources and so much electricity that NV Energy is already upgrading the grid to power them all. We need to take legislative action immediately to prevent data centers from using more resources than we can afford

Nevada has the fourth most expensive housing market in the country, and the second most cost burdened renters. We can fix this:

✅ Cap Rent Prices
✅ Build Up, Not Out
✅ Invest in affordable housing

Nevada legislators keep telling us that if they just give a little bit more money to the rich, it will trickle down to us in jobs. We have given away billions and Nevada still has one of the highest unemployment rates in the nation. Maybe it's time to try something new.
November 14, 2025 at 3:45 AM
Nevada has the most expensive childcare in the nation and a waiting list of 7,000 children who cannot get a pre-K seat. It's time we invested in Nevada's families and introduced universal, free childcare for all.

Thousands of Nevadans will be paying a lot more for their health insurance, SNAP benefits are still being cut, Medicaid is being cut, unemployment is up, and Nevada's legislators are meeting soon to vote on whether they should give our public money to billionaires.
November 12, 2025 at 9:07 PM
Our legislature has been corrupted by money in politics. Groups like the Realtors Association and the Chamber of Commerce spend big on electing their hand picked candidates and then lobby to transfer wealth from the working class to the 1%. That's why I won't take their money.

Housing is for people to live in, not a corporate investment scheme for wall street. I 100% support banning corporate investors from buying housing in Nevada.

3 out of 4 preschool aged kids in Nevada are not enrolled in preschool. Why? Because of the cost. Free, universal childcare would help CCSD students catch up with the rest of the country by introducing to them to school EARLY.

I'm just a mom who's sick and tired of living in a state where billionaires and corporations get free handouts while the rest of us struggle to pay our bills. You can help me fight back at valfornevada.com

Over the last 50 years, $80 trillion in wealth has been redistributed from the bottom 90% to the top 1%. Tax giveaways like the one being suggested by the NV legislature greatly contribute to the transfer - by taking our public money and directing it into the pockets of the rich.

Nevada has the second most cost-burdened renters of any state - which means that rent prices are significantly higher than wages! This didn't happen by accident, our legislature is in debt to the landlord lobby who finances their campaigns and demands never ending rent increases in exchange!
November 7, 2025 at 4:45 PM
Nevada is one of the worst off states in the nation. We have:
most expensive childcare
fastest rising rents
second highest grocery prices
slowest rising wages
second most cost-burdened renters

It's time we came together to fight for a decent standard of living!

Nevada is not giving sony pictures a regular tax credit where they just don't pay taxes for a set amount of years and it creates jobs, we're giving them TRANSFERABLE credits that they can sell to companies like MGM Resorts who will then use them to not pay taxes, it costs us money!
November 6, 2025 at 12:00 AM
I don't think people are very aware of the fact that nearly every member of the Nevada legislature is financed by and elected by the same handful of corporations
October 18, 2025 at 3:40 PM
The Nevada legislature is meeting in November to decide if we should give $3 billion in public money to billionaires while Nevada's families are facing a looming recession, higher insurance prices, higher energy prices, and home costs that never stop going up.
October 15, 2025 at 2:31 PM
Of course everyone is angry. My first apartment was $500 a month and I just signed a lease for nearly $1500 a month. Did our pay triple or quadruple since then? NO.
October 6, 2025 at 1:01 PM
Nevadans pay more for childcare than in any other state
Nevadans pay more for housing than in 46 other states
Nevadans pay more for electricity than in 40 other states
Nevadans pay more for healthcare than 46 other states

Maybe business as usual isn't working for us.
October 6, 2025 at 3:26 AM
Isn't it so funny? They're allowed to buy up all the electricity and make you pay for the costs but you're not allowed to do anything about it. Don't speak up! Don't march! Don't touch the building! Because then YOU might be the criminal.
October 5, 2025 at 8:36 PM
They wouldn't be doing any of this if they weren't terrified of you. There is only ONE thing the rich fear, and it is the day that you all realize who the enemy really is.
