Hobbyist culturalists often say there are two categories of societies, dubbed one, guilt societies, and two, honor and shame societies. They say they are diametrically opposed too. I think of this when someone shames someone else into apologizing for something and expects them to feel guilty for it.

Might as well be an analogy.

"If DARVO stands for 'deny, attack, reverse victim and offender', FIRDI stands for 'frame, inflate, revisit dealt issues'. Just as one might complain of those who brush something aside, react against those with the goods, and blame, you also have issue fabricaters/exaggeraters/revivers."

American just can't catch a break, can they? From the blizzards on the East to the deluge to the South to the earthquakes and fires to the West to the Chicxulub crater in Mexico to the tornadoes in the midwest to the volcano buried under Yellowstone that is now said to be due to erupt. What a curse.

"Honor a good rule and it will honor you, benefit from a bad rule and it will bite you. Those who accept bans have a case when they must do it. Those who trespass because somebody forgot to put the no-trespassing sign up lose ground when they see the tree with the sign on both sides."

"If you feel your life is destructively misconstrued, just remember that Caligula once disciplined soldiers by waging a pretend war against Neptune where they stabbed the sea and looted shells Gordon-Ramsay-style, and writers spun that as the war being serious and him as insane."

That moment when you're banned from a place, not for voting for Trump, but because you're assumed to have done so based on just trying to keep peace with his voters, as bsky.app/profile/vale... and bsky.app/profile/vale... bring to mind

I'm not pro-Trump, so thanks for nothing for pushing me to him

An unusual note at my work says: "So you wanna break the fourth wall to chronovisor users but in a way they saliently know is for them? Step 1; draw an anti-vampire circle. Step 2; do the chicken dance in it. Step 3; say as you wish to direct to them. Step 4; do the moves in reverse, remove circle."

I read about things like what www.msn.com/en-us/news/u... brings to mind, and I think what the heck.

What's wrong with people?

You would not go into a burning house to save your games.

You would not pee outside because the bathroom is far away.

Why then would you damage property to climb a hill?

Does it strike anybody else as maybe hypocritical that mass deportations as well as buying Greenland have both simultaneously been in the news lately, almost like the US accepts people only when it serves them?

If I was deported, I'd ask to be deported to Greenland and watch and see how they react.

Mini story:
Once I was in art class.
"A picture equals 1000 words" the aid said.
"Are any synonyms" asked a classmate?
"Not necessarily."
"Are they all true?"
"I'd anticipate so."
"Is the word count equal in all pics?"
"Perhaps?"
They made a bet to describe some simple images in 1000 words and lost.

Ever since the news that lemm.ee/post/54155328 brings to mind has been revealed, I've been pondering.

What if this and the issue of organized criminals cancelled each other out by encouraging them to specialize in will-fulfilling business, giving otherwise-criminals a now unfulfilled positive role?

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
November 28, 2024 at 10:00 PM
Anyone else tired of all the people hating on Thanksgiving?

Suppose you see a family sitting around a table eating a bird and some taters. When you look at that, do you see people "celebrating the demise of a culture"? That is only because of your own expectations.

A day is what people make of it.

It's ironic when you think about it.

In 2016, Democrats won the popular vote and were complaining Trump shouldn't be in office because most people didn't vote for him.

Now this time he has won the popular vote and they're complaining people did vote for him (and ghosting them).

Hence the college.

That was covered with vines
Lived seven little goslings
In two straight lines
They left the road
At half past nine
