You’ve heard of girl dinner and boy dinner, now get ready for “nonbinary dinner” which for me is just having AuDHD, forgetting to eat most meals until I’m starving, then eating a snack buffet while an enormous amount of food arrives.

Or could just be buffet. Is there a vegetarian Golden Corral?

This makes a lot more sense wheb put like this. It’s also why it seems so ridiculous to millenials because we’ve never seen affordable housing.

The thing that’s getting me through this week is scrolling back in the house group chat and seeing all the messages about if the cats have been fed yet or the status of our wooden utensils in the sanding-oiling process.

Hey @figma.com. Figma Sites in its current state can put your customers at serious risk for accessibility lawsuits. #a11y #accessibility
Let's play a game with `document.querySelectorAll`

617 div elements.
84 elements with aria-label.
All 84 are divs.
No button/role=button elements.
12 anchor/role=link elements.
5 role=link elements.
All 5 are divs.
5 elements with tabindex.

7 elements with href.

There's not enough good nonbinary jokes out there so I wrote one:

What kind of sandwich can you make with two slices of nonbinary bread?

Depends on what's enby-tween them!

Anyone know of any good games or fun activities that I could use to train designers on using assistive tech? I was thinking like a web game where the commands are all keyboard, need to use the screenreader, etc

This is a de facto genocide of disabled Americans.
House Republicans just voted to gut Medicaid, which covers 1 in 5 Americans overall, including 41% of births and 63% of nursing home care.

They also just voted to gut SNAP, on which 41 million food insecure Americans rely.

This won’t just harm people. This will kill people.

They own this.

The sheer volume of headlines, lawsuits, and commentary surrounding accessibility overlays can be overwhelming to fully grasp.

We made a timeline to help anyone understand and share this rich and cursed saga in digital accessibility.

I’m making a new website and after fighting with ghost for months I decided to go with webflow.

Viewing the a11y video in their docs and the instructor says “we’ll do hierarchical whatever it’s called when you’re doing proper hierarchy” and just decided to take a break and write an article instead.

Saying something is fully accessible as a misnomer! Accessibility isn’t a finish line or guarantee. Yet we often see products labeled as “fully accessible“- why is this a misconception and what can we do to course correct without losing confidence?

Further, seeing interpreters in TV is common in many other countries.

People in the US "annoyed" by seeing ASL on TV need to check their privilege -- know what's more annoying than seeing ASL on tv?

Being locked out of the information BECAUSE YOU CAN'T HEAR.

It's time to step the FUCK up if you wanna be an ally.

ASL interpretation is being targeted by right wing cry baby douchebags.

Shut this shit down when you see it. SPEAK UP. This barrage of ASL hate is heavier than usual.

I’ve always found the quote attributed to Eleanore Roosevelt to be ableist so I adapted to choice of topic:

Shallow conversations focus on what and where, average conversations on who and how, but great conversations are about why, affect, and the ever-evolving future.

My cat Michael stole and returned drone batteries. The Snap Inc Pixy was recalled and the pop-out batteries have to be locally recycled. I’ve confiscated them for her own safety but she plays with the silliest things sometimes. She has pulled tacks out of the wall and stolen ikea hardware. #sillyCat

I wonder if anyone can guess what my first knitting pattern is before it’s finished and blocked / tied off! Hint: you might use it every day and it’s completely symmetrical. I’m about 1/3 through the pattern here. I’m knitting it into a hat but you can add it into anything with a 48x48 open spot.

I appreciate that people want to be kind, but please remember if you are responding to a disabled person talking about their situation that they (read: me) receive dozens or hundreds of the similar messages over & over, inquiring about specifics of the illness and recommending treatments ♿
