I’ve written a thing about Adam Phillips’ “On Giving Up” & what giving up has to do with comedy. Phillips is interested in tragic heroes being people who don’t give up- which raises the question of whether giving up belongs to a comic world… (link in bio)

“Unendingness of the incomplete can resurface in surprising, delightful ways. It may be decades after we’d stopped trying to finish our half-done thing but that doesn’t mean the half-done thing is finished with what it has to give us.”

I've made a collection of unfinished things from history and historians. It covers Plato's legend of Atlantis (which ends mid sentence), fashion history (including an unfinished book about bra history), & tales of unfinished history tours: unfinishing.co.uk/history

@michaelshallcross.bsky.social’ project “Inscribing Pandemonium” is designed to be added to continuously. That’s quite different from the books researchers traditionally publish, which can imply they contain all there is to know about a particular area.

Best thing about Valentine’s Day is still seeing people walking about with flowers (especially the sheepish blokey blokes).

Had a really enjoyable chat with @unfinishing.bsky.social about my current, purposefully unfinishable research project, the problems of scholarly publishing in a collapsing labour market, and much else besides. Huge thanks to Emily for inviting me onto her brilliant podcast series.

Thanks for the lovely welcome @folklorepod.bsky.social! I’ll be tuning in to your pod 😊
A fascinating concept for a new podcast. Emily looks at various topics and projects which remain 'unfinished' in different ways.

Do follow @unfinishing.bsky.social and give her some love, and take a listen. New podcasts need our support
