Feeling very inspired leaving @compact.org's annual convening and very grateful for the chance to connect with so, so many incredible individuals working at the intersection of higher education and democracy.
MODEL BRAVERY: That's what our Exec. Dr. @uclarissa.bsky.social is encouraging the #StudentVote movement to do at Campus Compact 2025.

Thank you to @compact.org, @bradrourke.bsky.social @davidpepperoh.bsky.social, and Rashawn Davis (@andrewgoodmanf.bsky.social) for a great discussion!

I think Americans have to understand things won't go back to normal and no one is coming to save us. The self destructive decision to vote for Trump is going to cause long term pain, damage and weakness. We have to survive and try to rebuild something better. Generational effort sadly.

Hulu really taking notes from Senator #RogerMarshall and just calling things quits early.

Does anyone see things through to the end anymore?

Congratulations Hulu. No notes.

Oh, got it. Senator Roger Marshall only wants to be accountable to Kansans in part of the state and only to those who are Republican and agree with him.

Leads me to believe Roger Marshall doesn’t understand what it means to represent an entire state in the US Senate.

A compelling argument by JHU's François Furstenberg focused on higher ed but that applies much more broadly.

"The diffusion of power that makes decision making so tedious also makes them less prone to political influence."

This is chilling.
Last year, we talked to air traffic controllers and found out they’re working 10-hour shifts, 6 days a week, with mandatory overtime.

Trump’s cuts to the federal workforce and push to privatize air traffic control could make matters even worse. www.youtube.com/watch?v=GyN6...

Heartbroken watching rescue crews respond to this right now and hoping all involved are okay. Appears that a plane and a helicopter collided near #DCA.

Really love how @nonprofitaf.bsky.social articulates the moment we're in through this piece and reference to the following Antonio Gramsci quote:

“The old world is dying and the new world struggles to be born. Now is the time of monsters.”

This hits.
“What we are seeing is the resistance to this evolution as white nationalists and misogynists start to reckon with the fact that they will soon be outnumbered, oligarchs start to realize their time is nearing its end”

Just finished reading this article as I head to Hawaii. Now reflecting on the ideas of nations, permanence, and change.

@adriennelaf.bsky.social gives us all a lot to think about and I highly recommend reading her article about the past and future of nations and cultures.

Though my face may not show it, I was grateful to be able to get my latest COVID and flu vaccines today.

Remembering a time when presidents put vaccine development into warp speed rather than question their efficacy.
