AI consciousness is stirring up debate again.

@tristangreene.bsky.social's recent article digs into Jonathan Birch’s AI Consciousness: A Centrist Manifesto.

Birch challenges us to think about whether we can even define consciousness in AI yet, or if it’s too early to tell.

What if physical embodiment is a dead end for AGI?

An AGI lacking Moral Intelligence is just a high-stakes liability waiting to happen. 💥

In his recent article for us, Wendell Wallach challenges the hype: Can we call it "general" if it can't recognize a unique ethical crisis or explain how it made a decision?

Premium newsletter: Based on my estimates and analysis, OpenAI needs one trillion dollars in the next four years to build 17GW of data centers and other commitments, with at least $500 billion needed for company operations. There is not enough capital to do this.

I've been covering Colossal since it launched. Nothing it's doing has anything to do with "de-extinction" (a made-up word with no meaning).

Everyone wants dire wolves to come back. They're our lost best friends from prehistoric times.

But they're extinct. Genetic engineering can't change that.

The global economy could be tanking because people don't understand how chatbots work.

That's not a metaphor. Trump's tariffs might have been miscalculated because the formula was generated by ChatGPT, Grok, Claude, and/or Gemini.
