Wow. Really significant setback for CEPC, which many were worried would cannibalize FCC, or hoped would spur a muon collider in the US.

“We plan to submit CEPC for consideration again in 2030, unless FCC is officially approved before then, in which case we will seek to join FCC, and give up CEPC.”

Pileup of 206 is incredible
🤯206 collisions in one bunch crossing! Usually, we see around 60 collisions every time a bunch of protons meet another, so this is a test of a very special kind for the High Luminosity phase!
