"I'm asking you a direct question. Why do you ban journalists who oppose your views from coming to your events? Why did you tell local government not to do interviews with your local newspaper?"

Labour have developed the unfortunate habit of running the exact type of government they claim to be against. Is Starmer actually fighting Farage, or is he just keeping his seat warm?

Starmer is rolling the pitch for Britain's authoritarian future
Inadvertently or not, Labours recent policy decisions have emboldened a potential Farage premiership to act with total disregard for our basic freedoms.

I wrote for the Guardian’s Saturday magazine about my son Max, who changed how I see the world. Took ages. More jokes after the first bit.

Thanks Merope Mills for being the most patient and generous editor.

It was, we were told, a case of sudden infant death syndrome interrupted. What followed would transform my understanding of parenting, disability and the breadth of what makes a meaningful life

The way this verdict has been misinterpreted sheds a harsh light on how broken our legislature is. Without once being debated in our elected chamber, the laws protecting trans people have all but vanished. The government constantly leaning on the supreme court over the issue shows shocking cowardice
This is going to be an absolute car crash, the Supreme Court verdict looks more absurd by the day

Incredibly depressing day. I've spent my entire life being told by British governments how dreadful immigration is. New Labour did it. The Coalition. The Brexiters. Now Starmer. All of them accusing the ones who came before them of failing to clamp down. The same old vacant mean-spirited bollocks.
