it’s easy to just say “they’re conservatives” and be done with it, but my best read is that Sulzberger et al are in fact moderate Democrats who believe that the left is responsible for the rise of Trump, and they believe that beating the left back and defeating Trump are a singular project

The NYT is suggesting Zohran lied by checking off both “Asian” & “African”, because (in their view) someone of Indian descent born & raised in Africa isn’t “truly” African. Which was also how Idi Amin justified expelling Zohran’s father & thousands of others.

Entertainers who are “Freakonomics core” (Penn Jilette, this guy, Malcolm Gladwell) always run out of stuff to be contrarian about and eventually run head first into a brick wall of credulity. It doesn’t discount the whole project but it is inherent to it. Except Gladwell who rode the Epstein plane
