Requiem Americano premiered last night to a wonderfully receptive full house! It has been a long journey with this piece, and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to have shared it with so many people.

Rehearsals are underway for the premiere of the requiem. Between rehearsals I refine the goals for the next one, and use probably too many sticky notes in the process (not pictured are the discarded ones.)

Concert is this Saturday, see you there! www.georgiasymphony.org/event/we-the...

While it is pretty standard for foundations dedicated to composers to list upcoming performances of their works, I found this one to be a little more meaningful this time around.

Really good rehearsal last night with the Georgia Symphony Chorus. A lot of hard work on the requiem and it's paying off. Hear the premiere on May 17th! www.georgiasymphony.org/event/we-the...

There is a first time for everything, including conducting a performance with a broken tooth, as was the case this evening. Appointment already set for first thing in the am.

Occasionally I'm reminded of things in my past that go on to have a life of their own. In this case, it is my doctoral dissertation. It has been cited dozens of dozens of times (if not more) as THE source for information on historic instrumental vibrato.

Goodness on the stand this am.

Long, tiring, but musically fulfilling day. Started off early by introducing about 1,000 students to Carnival of the Animals. It ended with introducing my Requiem Americano to the GSO Chorus ahead of our May premiere.

Prep-day for tomorrow morning's "Carnival of the Animals." This show is special to me not just because of the great music. Aside from (expectedly) writing the script, I also created the visuals.

Up at 5:30 to get to the hall by 7am. Rehearsal at 8 for the show at 11. Who is bringing the coffee???

Many thanks to William Ford for the invitation to sit and chat about a wide range of topics, which included spotlighting the size and scope of the GSO, my background, and how music just became a part of my interest, my drive, and my life. www.earrelevant.net/2025/03/timo...

Finally have a moment to post - I took a quick trip Saturday down to Columbus to hear Okorie “Okcello” Johnson perform Liminal. As always he received a well-deserved standing ovation. If any conductors out there are looking for a work that’s a pleaser- check it out www.timothyverville.com/liminal/

It's been a busy past few days. Hopefully brass will be finished in the next day or so. Shoutout to @doricoofficial.bsky.social (which I've used for about 5 years now) for making the individual part creation for a 54 minute piece for orchestra, chorus, and solo tenor easier than it ever was!

Spent the morning listening to the audio from last weekend's @Georgia Symphony Orchestra "Suite Treats" concert. Really great performance by everyone one stage. Now, on to trying to finish all the percussion engraving for the requiem today.
