This is my brother's research!! He's worked incredibly hard on it the last several years. I'm proud.

In the 2010s, this country's elites were thrown onto social platforms with everyone else and could finally read what we all think about them and it caused them so much psychic damage that they decided to destroy both the internet and democracy to make sure nothing like it ever happened again.
If this is what it took for you to be pushed into fascism you were probably already there

Having helped Russia and the American kleptofascists interfere in British politics, Farage is once again trying to get America to interfere in our politics.

Farage is a traitor serving hostile foreign forces.

Step 1: Reddit thread on how gravity is a hoax we're hypnotized into believing, & if you flap your arms really fast, U can fly.

Step 2: Create machine, called "AI", that distills collective knowledge & opinions, inc. from Reddit threads.

Step 3: Sudden outbreak of arm flapping, apparent suicides

Social security is not a gift, not charity, not something doled out by the nation out of the goodness of their heart, it is an acceptance that the total wealth of a nation, most of it created by those who own the least, is best for the entire nation if it is distributed equably across the nation
Social security in the form of welfare payments is a right legislated into law. The minute it becomes conditional, it is a coercive process
We need governments to remember that welfare is a right.

I've tried to compose this elegantly but fuck it: Australia's compliance mechanisms are fucking evil.

The key phrase is "buying you time". Legal action, mass legal action, bureaucratic delay, can buy you time to organize better ways to beat the fascists.

The problem is most people don't know what that looks like. Most people were raised to believe in the system, so they freeze when the rules change
There's a stage of democracy where the rule of law remains strong enough to be a serious deterrent to would-be authoritarians.

There's a later stage where the law can only slow down the authoritarians, buying you time.

And then there's the stage where the law is instrumentalized BY authoritarians.
there's a scene in Conspiracy, a movie about the Wannsee Conference where the Holocaust was planned, in which one Nazi asks everyone in the room with a law degree to raise their hands almost the whole room does

you should not be framing your objections to this regime in terms of what is legal.

The hatred against trans women probably makes me as sad as anything else happening in this world.

Have never encountered a transphobe who doesn’t also reveal their homophobia and racism with the slightest scratch.

Transphobes devote their lives to hatred. My contempt for them is total.

In my self-defense classes I focus on how most people are socially conditioned to follow the norms of a civilized, polite society — and there is a MENTAL SHIFT required to use violence to defend from violence.

I'm reminded of this while watching our elected officials dithering and delaying. 1/
