The Nova Scotia Christmas tree is officially on its way to the oldest public park in America! Thank you from Boston to our northerly neighbors for well over a century of friendship & care.

People say Boston is a white city because they don’t know Boston is a city in a majority minority metro where the Taiwanese American mayor succeeds in part because she campaigns in Haitian Kreyòl

Congratulations, @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social!! Thank you for running an inspiring campaign focused on making real change for working people & families.

And huge props to @bradlander.bsky.social for being a true leader, fighter & coalition-builder 🙌
WBUR's @thebrodybeat.bsky.social asked Boston Mayor Michelle Wu about the NYC race and Zohran Mamdani on Monday, after Mamdani recently pointed to Wu as a model.

"If New York is to have that kind of leadership, that would be a really thrilling thing to be able to partner," Wu said.

I really like the pieces in this year’s BPS Youth Art Month exhibit in the Mayor’s Office right now. The pup in the hawaiian shirt gets me every time I walk by 😂

"If you wanted to make us safe, pass gun reforms. Stop cutting Medicaid. Stop cutting cancer research. Stop cutting funds for veterans. That is what will make our cities safe."

To every one of my neighbors back in Boston, know this: You belong here. This is your home. Boston es tu hogar. Boston se lakay ou. 這是你的家.

This is our city.

We are the safest major city in the nation because we are safe for everyone.

PowerCorps: legit one of the coolest programs we do in Boston. 10 months paid, hands-on training in urban forestry, building operations, green infrastructure - fields where we as a city + many employers can’t find enough workers and we know jobs will only grow.

Mayor Wu has always been a staunch advocate for city workers and it's been an honor to help her push paid family leave benefits at City Hall across the finish line.

When I had my first daughter in 2017, I was one of those city workers represented by a union and not covered by the first roll out.
Catching up with a few thoughts on everyone else’s thoughts on how I (& presumably all women) should behave re: work/family 🧵

Overall- important & meaningful to see the range of takes here reflecting so many personal, hard decisions made in a system that so often blocks balance & choice.
The mayor of Boston, Michelle Wu, apparently worked all morning before going to the hospital to have a baby in the afternoon. 😳 That is some dedication. (Also, congrats Mayor Wu and family!)

Lol, Celeste's take in this thread sums up my reaction to folks' *many* opinions today on our Mayor being one of the first mayors of a major city in this country to give birth while in office.

When you hear “cut the budget instead”—what they’re not saying out loud: given state law, every $1 cut from tax levy would benefit commercial property owners 2-to-1 over residential—wouldn’t provide relief for residents unless we decimate City services.
