Our CA23 representative voted in favor of the Big Ugly Bill today and the dang thing passed. Jay Obernolte supposedly represents our district in which 47% of the population requires Medicaid. Additionally, due to several of the towns being vacation destinations, a lot of jobs are tipped.

I'm fascinated by the City of New York choosing a 33 year old Mayor. Here's hoping he does a great job. This is across the continent from me but I'll be watching.

In the interest of continuing to reduce our energy use, today we replaced all the windows in the house with more effective double pane windows. I was amazed that they were installed in just over 3 hours and look fantastic. It's wonderful when a good decision also looks good.

Many of us wanted Jasimine Crockett as ranking Dem on the oversight committee. Instead, @robertgarcia.bsky.social was chosen. We used to live in Long Beach, CA when he was Mayor, and think a lot of him. He's progressive, smart and hard working. I think he's a great choice.

Just about to begin Chapter 6 of "Never Flinch"; Stephen King's newest, and am already hooked. In the old days, I would have finished it in the early hours of this morning. These days reading is only possible in short bursts. But I am still enjoying it beyond words.

So worried about what will go down June 14. Learning a lot on social media. Instead of marching & shouting support, it really is sound advice that you simply sit down & remain silent. They can’t do ANYTHING. This day will be a flashpoint for democracy, don’t give Trump reason to impose martial law!

I wonder why I keep trying magic loop when my hands prefer double pointed needles?? I struggle and struggle until I give up and finally frog it and start over with the dpns. Since learning Norwegian style knitting, the dpns just work so much better for me. And if you made it this far, thanks! 🧶

After weeks of starting and restarting the sleeve of a sweater, today I picked up those dpns, cut off the raggedy yard I'd reknitted 15 times and knit 5 rows as though I knew what I was doing. Channeling some fabulous knitters made it work. Yay.
