I play the character of a grumpy man working in #HE. Partial to a gin or two, maybe a glass of red. #SAFC for my sins.

Sidekick for life to @emmathefrench.bsky.social

It's the hope that keeps me here...

What's even more depressing is that success rated used be published annually, by council and by institution. This shouldn't have needed an FOI.
After submitting a FOIA request UKRI, I obtained success rates by three grant call scheme and I can only say that I am disheartened by the results:

- AHRC Responsive Mode 2025: 2%
- ESRC New Investigator Grant 2025: 1%
- ESRC Research Grant Round 2025: 1%

That licensed conveyancers do not offer tax advice is no more newsworthy than a fishmongers not offering tax advice.

I saved a baby pigeon today. He was trapped in a fence, looking very dejected. Once released, he flew a short distance away & stared at me suspiciously until I left. Likely, I think, to make sure I did not try and rescue him again.

I assume my medal will follow in the mail...

I prosecute and defend the most serious sexual offences in our courts.

The overwhelming majority of offenders are British-born. Overwhelmingly the victim is someone known to them, either a partner or relative.

Anybody purporting to care about protecting women might start there.
