it might seem surprising that the people who said “look, let trans people live their lives, but i have Reasonable Concerns about sports and toilets” aren’t up in arms about this, but what you have to remember is that those people who said that are liars who were lying

This is, of course, only magnified by the obvious problem here in that Democrats have already FAILED at Donald Trump Not Being President--twice! And so now their discourse must solely be in the perspective of "You being mean to the guy who is not Donald Trump is why Donald Trump is president"

The simple reality is there is a huge faction in the party--often the dominant one--that truly does not care about anything except Donald Trump not being president which is why any criticism of a Guy Who Is Not Donald Trump is considered detrimental to their goal of Donald Trump Not Being President

The entirety of the left/liberal friction in Democratic Party politics is summarized by how one looks at basically anything Hakeem Jeffries says and if your reaction is "Jesus fucking Christ we could do so much better than this" or "I like the way he's not Donald Trump"

That's it. That's all of it.

The whole reason RFK Jr is in his job is to defenestrate public health. That's not an "in spite of" situation. That's why the president nominated him and 52 senators voted for him. They don't care about his affairs or his drug use, because he's destroying public health, like they wanted.
Not to defend Olivia Nuzzi, who broke every rule in journalism and promoted a charlatan to his current position. But it's incredibly telling that she will lose her job, but RFK Jr. gets to stay in his job despite the reports of his drug use, his affairs and his defenestrating of public health.

How many needless deaths and illnesses can be traced to Andrew Wakefield and, by extension, Bruno Bettelheim?
Since becoming a parent I have not, in fact, understood the parents who say “if you were a parent you’d understand” about vaccine hesitancy. Being in charge of this fragile little miracle has me saying things like “give her all the vaccines. Turn this baby into a pincushion” to doctors

Netflix getting Warner Bros. is bad for art, but right-wing oligarchs not getting it is bad for fascism.

The Ellisons already got Paramount and Fox-ified CBS, plus a big stake in TikTok USA and more.

On balance, avoiding more Orban-style media consolidation is a good outcome.

Such are the times.

It makes more sense when you realize that RFK Jr. isn't an anti-vaxxer.

He's a eugenicist. He thinks that people die of disease because they are genetically inferior and vaccines dirty the gene pool by allowing inferior children who should have died of their illnesses to breed.

It's amazing how much Stancil cherry-picks, given that he casts himself as a "objective" observer of data:

A nobody who's also a minority many Americans are racist against pulling 50% with almost no support from his party in a three-way race against the former governor is impressive, actually!
Also, when you say people saying "Dems would win everywhere with a Mamdani-style platform," I think it's important to remember that that platform delivered the most charismatic candidate in recent history a whopping 50.4% of the vote against a street vigilante and actual vampire, in New York City

When I’m accused of “technopessimism“ I counter that I’m not “pessimistic about technology“; I am opposed to the economic, political, and social project of upward wealth transfer that “AI” is being leveraged to bring about. If that phrasing is useful to others, then go ahead and use it.

This is a legitimate scientific revolution in meteorology.

Also, to be clear, these models are not the AI LLMs that most people are familiar with. They are machine learning algorithms trained on observations (actually reanalysis).

Meteorologists are surprised that the weather model that did the best job forecasting hurricanes this year was a new one, introduced by Google. AI may be the beginning of a new era of forecasting. n.pr/49MFa1M

Well said, and also, I have never needed help in brainstorming ideas. I don't think I know any writers who need assistance in coming up with ideas. We have the ideas. We don't have the time and/or support.
All of which illustrates how infuriating it is when dipshits say that AI can 'help me to brainstorm ideas'. It can't do that. It can plaster a deepfake smile onto the corpse of zombie capitalism as it shambles towards the precipice of climate catastrophe, but it can't create meaningful literature.

I think we can safely say that the Leavitt's brother called ICE on his ex, the mother of his child, and I have to say: I have no desire to respect, find common ground or share the country with these monsters.
“After Ferreira was detained, Dos Santos Rodrigues said Michael Leavitt Sr. and his father, Bob Leavitt, reached out to her.”

“‘They just kept saying, ‘Tell her to self-deport,’” she recalled. “Self-deport to where? Brazil is not her home.’” www.bostonglobe.com/2025/11/26/m...

And yet these 86 House Democrats voted for a right-wing messaging amendment to say that the real authoritarians are the socialists.

Pathetic.
