Imagine if we elected a literal infant president, and every day NPR reporters had to say, completely straight-faced, "The president said 'goo-goo-ga-ga ba ba ba." And then pundits tried their best to spin it into something meaningful. That's what my morning commute feels like these days.

Our staff is on the ground supporting families. Many workers-including US citizens, were held by federal authorities at the farm for 8 hours or more. US citizen workers report only being released after they were forced to delete photos and videos of the raid from their phones. 4/

I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.
This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.
It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

anyone who had a position of power (in congress, in the party, in the doj) or influence (like op-ed space in a major newspaper or tv spot), and counseled against swift and punitive legal action, got the biggest question of their lives wrong and should never have power or influence again.
trump should’ve been in handcuffs in jan 2021 and there is no way to quantify just how much human suffering will result from the disastrous decision to slow walk his prosecution or even avoid it altogether

just please remember, whatever the news says about LA after this, that this is *always* how it goes. Everything is extremely calm until the police actively escalate for no reason. It was true during all the BLM protests and it’s true now.

The parallels to anti-trans propaganda are pretty blatant. Take a group that's been gaining visibility and acceptance, ramp up derogatory rhetoric until it's deafening, and then use it to persecute the group.

As I wrote in the piece, Kennedy continues to use stigmatizing and frankly pretty shocking language to refer to people with autism, implicitly framing them as a burden on society and their families who will, as he said, "never pay taxes" or "write a poem."
