"How dreary – to be – Somebody!
How public – like a Frog" - Emily Dickenson
Television is not recommended below the age of 2, because fake social interactions damage social development. Around age 2 a typical child understands that tv isn't interacting with them. AI seems an obvious similar danger and to a later age. Humans need to be socialized by humans.

I didn't know I was invisible. I am visually impaired so cannot legally or safely drive. But I do exist. I also think about people pushed to drive by lack of better options and can legally, but who know it would be safer for them not to. Better options would take some of them off the roads.
It's one thing to talk about the 1 in 20 Americans who live in households without cars. But it's another to talk about all the people who live in households with fewer cars than people who need to drive to participate in an autocentric society, particularly kids, elders, and people w/disabilities.

So why do we plan our cities like everyone can and does get behind the wheel every day?

What fascinates me is that healthy is relative to your other options. Eating hot dogs is vastly healthier than starving to death. What did they pick as the base 0 default diet? They had to pick a baseline that people can go up and down from. And how accessible and realistic was that baseline?
remember that fad a few years back for "objective" film and game criticism, which involved assigning numerical values to various aspects of a work, doing some math with those subjective numbers, then calling the derived result "science-based"? yeah me either that would be fucking stupid

Reading this helps me to understand why rich and powerful people seem to often get weird delusions. Being surrounded by people who agree with you and try to say what you want to hear seems to be the key danger. Now it is just more easily accessible.

There are already ex-trad wives posting on youtube about how making their life and the lives of their children dependent on a man was the biggest mistake they ever made.
I mean look I fully support their right to make choices about their own lives but also I think a whooooole lot of them are going to discover in 20 years, single-parenting their pack of kids, that being divorced from him is less work than being married to him was

If you are in one of the groups that Trump has vowed to target during his administration you are probably worried about digital security. My advice is "install signal, use dissapearing messages, don't post about crimes." But if you want further advice check this out.

A great injustice has been fixed! Many years ago, I discovered that Seuss' I Can Read With My Eyes Shut was not available in Braille. Some Seuss books were, but not that one. It felt so wrong. I just checked, and it now exists in Braille!

Is it necessary to put the numeric marker before each symbol like they did in the flag? I thought you could just put it once (⠼⠁⠓⠑⠓) and have the whole thing be recognized as a number. (Pretty sure I’ve seen it done that way in hotels and such… but maybe not?)

Maybe? I never noticed how it resembled braille. Apparently you can also use the same symbols for short common words (very, we, and, etc.). But I can't seem to figure it out, maybe it's a reference to the artist.

I love the idea that maybe sleep is the purpose of your life and being awake is the inconvenient but necessary disturbance.

There is currently a shortage in the US blood supply. If you can donate blood, please consider doing so, as this would be a particularly helpful time to do so.
