It appears that Harper’s Magazine has resorted to stoking moral panic in a last ditch attempt to salvage their steady decline. I sincerely hope that fails hard but modern readers do love the discovery of new sources of outrage so maybe they’ll get some traction with this “gooning” demonization.

The Heart of Jacks Podcast has removed its account from Spotify. I urge my followers to follow my lead and cancel your paid Spotify account.

@joe1920.bsky.social - Are you familiar with Mel Robbins already? This brought up a lot for me around sides, the acceptance we naturally want and also the issue of viewing the Top/Bottom folks as “other.” “Let Them” goes both ways.
Discovered this on the NYT podcast, Modern Love. I’m immediately engaged. This reflects my longstanding belief that Americans live in a broken model of personal responsibility, that too many of us have no concept of our role in the circumstances of our lives.

Dr. Marty Klein is an international treasure. I recommend reading his books and following his YouTube channel. He’s too pricey to do my humble podcast (don’t get me started) but he’s a favorite and one of my heroes. youtu.be/jRw5dWXl9wU?...

Still Fascinated by this paper arguing that orgasm actually uses the pain (not pleasure) neurological systems of the brain. Kinda throws a monkey wrench in the claims that sex/porn are addictive because of pleasure…https://academic.oup.com/smr/article-abstract/11/4/291/7252285

The Heart of Jacks Podcast started in 2020, during the pandemic. From the start, I wanted episodes to be “evergreen,” not stuck in time, so they’d stay relevant.

If you haven’t yet, I invite you to explore Season One while I prep the next chapter of HOJ.

I set the afternoon aside for recording voice overs so of course Seattle is experiencing a windstorm and my neighbors left their windchimes up.

Discussion for a possible future episode:

Does the commercial DIY porn phenomenon of fan sites—where content creators monetize, promote, and sell access to self-porn—repeat and amplify unrealistic and harmful beauty standards for men and women alike?

Sex at Dawn was transformative for how I think about sexuality, both my species’ and my own. It’s one of the most influential books of my life.

Almost 15 years after its publication, I still think everyone should read and study it. It’s an antidote to the poison of moral disinformation.
