Hi new Bluesky users! You might hear that Bluesky "doesn't have an algorithm", which is kind of true, kind of not. Bluesky has the concept of "feeds", which are tabs that provide you different algorithms of content that you can subscribe to and view. I'll talk a little bit about that here: 🧵

The whole “echo chamber” idea is first and foremost disingenuous. Most people talk to who they want to talk to, hang out with who they want to hang out with, read what they want to read. Thats just normal shit. Unless you’re getting paid, an adult doesn’t have to be someone’s captive audience.

All I know is the Discover feed has always sucked for me and I find “Popular with friends” to be closest to a useful “suggestions I might like” feed. Mostly I use the chronological Following feed but if I want to branch out, that’s the best one for me so far. Ymmv!
