Tiny Blue Dot in rural TX. Should I stay or should I go now?
If the Supreme Court says that the tariffs collected must be paid back-they will go to the companies themselves. When you purchased something with an increased price as a consumer because there was a tarrif on it-no one is going to provide a refund. Also-they’ll just hold their higher price point.

I’m feeling a bit frustrated with my community today. The community who voted 85% in favor of Trump. Who blame the “DemocRATS” for them not getting food stamps and are clearly brainwashed.

Considering giving a large donation to the food bank of thoughts and prayers for them to eat.

Four things can happen when a tariff hits:
1) Foreign firms cut prices
2) Retail margins get squeezed
3) Retailers pass it on to you
4) Some imports just stop
Latest data: #1 didn’t happen, #2 a lot at first, #3 a bit so far, and #4 in spots.

Bottom line: Americans (#2, #3) are paying the tariffs.

71m on Medicaid. 37m are children. 15m are disabled. 9m are elderly. That leaves 10m who are “able bodied”. How many of those are working? If the answer isn’t NEGATIVE 24m, then the math of 34m non-working able bodied on Medicaid doesn’t work. Hmmm.

Reminder: if you are having an issue with accessing a Federal Agency (ie Social Security), go to your US Senator and request assistance. Every time. They should have a specific contact section related to this help. Bother them, every time you have an issue. If you help family, make sure they know.

Local Mom’s group Facebook post today…..”I thought Trump was going to do a credit thing to pay for stay at home mom’s to get income for staying at home. He needs to get on that.” WHERE did their brains go?

Senior Senator admits that he never bothered to read public information or understand that when he passed spending bills that there would be spending included in those bills for the spending he approved.
Asked about the stock market tanking, Tuberville says "I don't think President Trump needs to be concerned about it. He doesn't need to look at it ... he has told me people there's gonna be a little bit of pain with this. And there is. That's fine. The stock market has gone up and down before."

Bookshop.org supports a local bookshop of your choice. I specifically researched to make sure the local store I chose was inclusive and safe. Between this, the Library and ThriftBooks-I can avoid Amazon for books while still getting a book fix.

They also have an app for folks who do eBooks.
Bookshop: Buy books online. Support local bookstores.
An online bookstore that financially supports local independent bookstores and gives back to the book community.

I just read some posts from moms in a local autism group say they don’t want to vaccinate their children (who are autistic) because they don’t want to make them MORE autistic. What in the actual hell?

Assuming Elon made $143b in 2024, utilizing 1954 tax rates (and taking into account inflation to adjust brackets)…he would have paid the equivalent of $130b in taxes. Leaving him with earning $13b. Seems like that is still enough money. Bring back the 1954 tax rates.

Partnership taxation (Subchapter K) of the Internal Revenue Code came to be in 1954. A time when the top individual rate was 91% and the top corporate rate was 37%. Earnings above 400,000 ($4.6m today) would have been taxed at 91%. Someone earning $5m today would go home with a bit over $1m.

When I was a Hill staffer in 2009, a Dem trifecta was trying to pass universal healthcare. In response, Senate GOP released a memo detailing all of the tactics they in the minority could use to delay the effort as much as possible. I'm recirculating that 2009 GOP memo here. Take inspiration from it.

Just my 2 cents. But my goal is to ignore the trolls. Give them zero attention. Block them if they annoy me.

I think the worst thing we can do on this site is re-create the ad hominem/ personal attacks that occur across comments on Twitter/insta/tiktok/ etc

Blocking Nazis, trolls, and fascists doesn’t make it an “echo chamber.” People need to stop gaslighting us into thinking we have to listen to Nazis and debate trolls in order to be informed.
