My latest A5 zine is about Elizabeth Fritsch, ceramicist, in her home working on her pots in 1977. View/buy it here: bit.ly/BuyWalmsleyZ...

Liz has a major retrospective at Hepworth Wakefield until Jan 2026. Absolutely recommended.

Be inspired. Be very inspired.
To Margate to see the brilliant exhibition “Resistance: How Protest Shaped Britain and Photography Shaped Protest” at @turnercontemporary — it’s a terrific show, documenting a century of direct action, from the suffragettes in 1903 to anti-Iraq-invasion protests in 2003. More details on IG.

Always fun catching up with Grant @unofphoto.bsky.social 📸 “Eileen Perrier: a Thousand Small Stories” is one of the photography exhibitions we discuss/debate—and I recommend—on the podcast this week 👉 unitednationsofphotography.com/2025/04/23/p... 👈 Have a listen, we’d love to know what you think!

Is ‘Leeds Photography’ trending? “Back to Back” is an excellent new book by photographer @rickyadam.bsky.social documenting the city from 2003 on, while the “Pete Mitchell: Nothing Lasts Forever” retrospective at The Photographers Gallery (London) covers the 1970s/80s. Both highly recommended.

French gallerist Emmanuel Perrotin opened a new location in London this week (add to his collection in Paris, NY, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Seoul, Tokyo + LA) — it starts with a nice little exhibition of photographic work by the always fab JR — video here (CapCut experiment), bit more info on my IG.

Great podcast this week in which @unofphoto.bsky.social and @billshapiro.bsky.social discuss the good, the bad and the pointless of social media for photographers — what works, what doesn’t, and what’s worth considering next (they’re looking at you @fotoapp.co)

Spending all day teaching fashion students with 2-inch nail extensions how to resize an image in InDesign is both hilarious and utterly exhausting.

Every major UK newspaper - left, right, broadsheet, tabloid - is running a front page campaign against copyright carveouts for AI training.

I can't remember the last time any political cause had such broad support, let alone one so anti-big tech and so economically consequential.

6th March until 1st April.
We will be exhibiting prints and showing our photobooks for the duration of the exhibition.

One of the most highly anticipated photography exhibitions this spring is “The Face Magazine: Culture Shift,” which just opened at London’s National Portrait Gallery. I visited today with some students — I have many thoughts, natch, but is there anything you’d like to know about it, Blueskyers?

Dublin.
1965/6.

Her goal was not just documentary photography but a subjective interpretation of the world, conveying the spirit of the time and a timeless message.
