The threat of ICE has tons of people on high alert, the result is claims of ICE seen without firm or specific info people can actually use — & sometimes, no ICE at all.

It’s never “ICE spotted in Queens,” but “4 SUVs labeled DHS seen parked on 57th & 59th in Maspeth at 2:34pm.”

Be specific!

So I’ve had my 1st Black History Month event cancellation because of “DEI concerns,” citing a fear of frivolous suits. Funny thing is, I don’t do DEI, I’m a historian of the Black American experience. A reminder that DEI is just a dog whistle about suppressing history, if you need a reminder.

Being openly trans on Twitter meant, among other things, that when I made an in-person submission as a member of the general public to an Australian Senate committee, fash spent over a week deluging the Chair with both graphic allegations of sexual deviance on my part and outright revenge porn of me
It's extremely hard to convey to the average cis person just how bad the harassment of trans people on social media has gotten and how aggressively we're targeted, because if you've not been on the receiving end of it for years, you can't really grasp how relentless it is, and how isolating it is.
Since about 2018 it became hard to say anything about being trans on that platform without constant demands by clearly anti trans groups to debate them over our own experiences or prove ourselves. This was after maybe 2 decades of us using the internet to share our experiences with normal cis people

We came into education to inspire young people. With all universities in Gaza destroyed and over 4,000 students killed, what kind of role models would we be if we stayed silent?
