I have two degrees in internet. And I host a music podcast. He/Him/His
It turns out, Arlo Guthrie has a website (Arlo.net) that he still updates himself. It still has a functioning daily view counter.

This week is the 50th anniversary of “Alice’s Restaurant.”

I think we can drive that view counter up a bit.

Can’t believe I’m saying this, but please post/reshare.

Just thinking about how Twin Peaks is a perceptive look at the Satanic Panic that aired as it was happening.

The supernatural hiding the mundane identity of the true perpetrator, the dubious therapy from Dr. Jacoby, the Pacific Northwest.

It’s “Michelle Remembers!”

How did Minx (2023-24) slip by without more praise?

It’s such a fun campy period comedy. Hopefully it does enough numbers to catch Serrandos’ eye

Me (an old soul millennial): what’s the best concert you’ve been to?

Gen-X guy who just bought me a glass of amazing top shelf bourbon: Devo on the Freedom of Choice tour.

Me (an old soul millennial): amazing! For me it’s U2 at The Sphere

My husband has strep throat, so I’m masking in the office today, and man I forgot how annoying it is to constantly smell your own breath.

Even after brushing your teeth! Then it’s just intense mint smell for hours!

With millions at risk of losing SNAP in the coming days, a reminder: hunger doesn't happen in isolation. When food assistance disappears, families use rent money to eat. Then come evictions and homelessness.

Housing, food, healthcare—it's all connected. Cut one thread and the whole thing unravels.

Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

Today is Bisexual Visibility Day. And to be honest, this is the least visible I think our community has been in a while.

But we are still here. We exist. We persist. And we survive.

maybe the biggest lesson here is that some level of fluency in internet culture is essential to a full understanding of where we are today and anyone waving it away with “online is not real life” has lost the plot. we all spend our lives with our phones in our hands and you ignore that at your peril

Listening to “The Woman In Me” and now all I want from this world is for #BritneySpears to do a cover of #Sparks’ “When do I get to sing ‘My Way’” with the same energy that #StevieNix brought to that live performance of “Silver Springs.”

This September, in honor of National Food Service Worker Day, I’m celebrating the lifelong friendships I made washing dishes and taking orders in my concessions jobs as a teenager.

Nearly 2/3 of people in the US have worked in the food service industry. We should celebrate all of them. #FSWday

very happy about all of this, what a great revival
BTW, the Nielsens for KING OF THE HILL really are dang impressive: 1.3B minutes for week one, with 928M just for S10. That's double/triple what BIG MOUTH and DISENCHANTED did for their final seasons on Netflix, and very strong for a half-hour show. www.vulture.com/article/king...

Two of my favorite bands since adolescence (Flaming Lips & Modest Mouse) are playing a show across town.

I’m on my couch with a cold beer, a snoring husband and a snoring beagle watching the #lollapalooza livestream.

I think I’m still coming out on top.

U.S.-funded contraceptives worth nearly $10 million are being sent to France from Belgium to be incinerated, after Washington rejected offers from the U.N. and family planning organisations to buy or ship the supplies to poor nations, two sources told Reuters.

“the $31 billion cost of the car interest deduction is more than the federal government spends annually on public transportation”
Instead of mitigating transportation costs, auto interest deductions are a $30B giveaway to the affluent and those who sell cars for a living.

The new GOP tax break will further push people to drive, worsening pollution, road safety, and inequality.

It’s a near-platonic ideal of terrible policy.
The High Costs of Trump’s ‘Big Beautiful’ New Car Loan Deduction
By letting some buyers deduct interest on auto loans, the GOP megabill promises to lower transportation bills. But this tax break could do the opposite.
