I declare that in my home, the California Constitution is the law of the land, superseding Federal law, because Californians enjoy expanded rights, including an explicit right to privacy & the right to reproductive freedom. I also declare that if Trump doesn’t like it, he can kiss my ass.

the administration wants to frame this (bizarrely) as law enforcement. but if law enforcement conducted a raid for a suspect and killed 40 people, including an unknown number of unarmed civilians, it would be treated as a clear disaster like Waco.
NYT:

At least 40 people were killed in the US attack on Venezuela, including military personnel and civilians.

Yet another reason why the next Dem president and Congress will have to hold the entire GOP (and some Dems) responsible. They are a clear and present danger to the continuation of American democracy.

they gave a guy with rapidly advancing cognitive decline and narcissistic personality disorder total legal immunity and access to the strongest military in the history of human kind, I’m not sure what else they expected

America's metamorphosis into the Fourth Reich is now complete. We have a homicidal madman as a ruler, & a military that is completely on board with violating all laws at his behest. There's no longer any doubt that when Trump orders our military to storm our streets & kill US that it will obey.

Even after seeing what a shitshow Trump 1.0 was.

I’m fucking apoplectic. 🇨🇦

Not that crazy IMO

➡️ The Republican-run Supreme Court has ruled the President can't be prosecuted for doing crimes in office

➡️ The Republican-run Congress has decided Trump's the boss and they are mere spectators

Historically, tell a guy he's a god-king with no consequences and this is the result
News: Gang of Eight in Congress were only notified about Trump's Venezuela operation after it began, source familiar tells me. That means the heads of the Intelligence Committees in Senate and House were *not* consulted. Just crazy.

Moulton: "When we had briefings on Venezuela, we asked, 'Are you going to invade the country?' We were told no. 'Do you plan to put troops on the ground?' We were told no. 'Do you intend regime change in VZ?' We were told no. So in a sense, we have been briefed, we've just been completely lied to"

THREAD: I'll fact-check all the viral misinformation about the US military operation in Venezuela in this thread

This image, purporting to show the US military arresting Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, is AI-generated.

According to Google's SynthID detector, it was created using Google AI.

All that has been taught today by the USA is that if you have enough power you can do whatever you like.

This is one of the most important points we have passed on the road to WW3 which Donald Trump is making inevitable.

Spot on
International law is being applied selectively.
When Russia violates it, the response is sanctions, tribunals, and moral outrage.
When the US do the same, the reaction is reduced to “concern” and “calls for restraint.” This double standard undermines the world’s and especially Europe’s credibility.
Trump is no better than Putin and should be treated as such by all countries.

The Enabling Act of 1933 (Ermächtigungsgesetz) was the legal basis for Hitler's dictatorial powers. Here's a word-for-word translation; I just changed the German legal references to refer to U.S. law.

The German parliament meekly went along.
Yes, history is repeating itself.

I just want to say for the record that when the history books are written centuries from now, I believe the election of Donald Trump in a free and fair election in 2024 will go down as one of the most senseless and self-destructive own goals in human history

So, this should finally put to rest any delusions that there are decent people left in the US military who will stand up to illegal orders and protect democracy. The US military is now more likely to kill US citizens rather than help them. They are not our friends.

It should also be noted that those claiming to be concerned with made up fraud, have no interest in holding people like Senator Rick Scott accountable for actually committing fraud against American tax payers.
