Chilling piece on employment effects of AI on early careers. Includes this line, which will probably become the norm for many firms: "Managers at Shopify must now justify hiring a human by first explaining why AI can’t do the job."

If someone lies, you call them a liar.
If someone shares racist views, you call them a racist.

Why does the media find this hard.

Its 2025 and no studio has tried to make a Star Trek game by simply copying Mass Effect.
Baffling.

I'm watching Star Trek TNG for the first time.
It's cosy and interesting, not the show I expected. A show that uses a sci-fi setting to discuss current and human problems. Professional conflicts, debating rights and laws peacefully, how science shouldn't replace nature.
It presents a hopeful future

The majority of my day is spent alone, at home, working, and with no human interaction.
Today, I drive to the shops, give way to a woman in a 4x4 so she can get out of her parking space, and she responds by flipping me off and shouting things I can't hear.
Why do I bother in this country.

When presented with the bill at all restaurants in Scotland, staff always put it in the middle and asked "are you splitting or paying whole?"

In England, I'm always given the bill and asked how I'd like to pay.

Just a little observation I made recently.

Gamescom has been insufferable. The worst parts of E3 and The Video Game Awards combined into one annoying show

gAI art is bad because it's stealing labor.

stealing labor from art is easy because no one sees art as labor, they see it as talent.

they see it as talent because it's easier to believe they have a right to hate you because they can't stand they gave up and you didn't.

fuck them, pay labor.

Mario Kart World has the foundations of something that COULD be good. But in execution it is empty, dull, and lacks that Nintendo magic.
Most races are 70% straight lines driving to a track and then only do 1 lap of the actual course. Then, the race ends.
MK8 was so fantastic and World is just not.

The closing of any high street shop is often depicted in media as customers failing to support physical stores.
In reality, it is rich CEOs and other higher-ups in companies failing their customers.
I, like many others want to support my high street, but blind loyalty will not work.

Watching Impossible and every contestant says they'll use the prize money to go on holiday in the US or Australia.
I'd like one person to just say "we will go to butlins".

We need humble contestants on TV

The death of Ozzy is not only the loss of an incredible artist. It is the end of an era and signals a change in Metal as a whole. All future fans will not be living alongside the genres first icon.
I feel fortunate to have lived at the same time as him.

I've been thinking about the BBC's handling of Glastonbury.
TV networks are not even trying to bring in younger viewers. They're vilifying young people if anything.
Pensioners that BBC and other networks pander to will be gone in 10-20 years, and the teenagers of today will avoid TV out of spite.
