I'm not even going to pretend that my side-view run cycles are perfect, but now I'm doing the other angles and my depth perception refuses to cooperate

Anyway, here's a quick drawing of Olivia using the truly beautiful sculpture L'ange du mal (1842) by Joseph Geefs as reference.

Any time I'm feeling a little down about my game dev project, I start looking up famous artworks. I might never be able to compare to those works, but when I look at what masters of their craft can produce, I feel like my soul is healed just a little.

I feel oddly guilty when I ask objects to off themselves in Gamemaker. Part of me is like, "no, obj_control_title, you have so much to live for!" #gamedev #indiedev #solodev

Gamedev Art Tip for The Day:

If you’re not a super skilled artist, simplicity is your friend. Don’t stress about the smoothest animations or the most detailed sprites/models. Know your strengths and lean into it. Then you’ll make something truly special :)

Working on a cutscene today! Drawing all the details on that dress every frame is a nightmare, but I'm powering through

The first enemy in my game is based on the myth of la ciguapa so I made a short about her story.

She's a spooky gal but I love her haha

Lesson of the day: Resist the impulse to continue working on something just because you've already spent a lot of time and effort into it and don't want to see it go to waste.

You end up wasting more time for a worse result.

Throw it in the trash and start with a fresh pair of eyes.

It's Monday again. How are we feeling today #gamedev, are we working hard or hardly working?

Setting up the environments is equal parts stressful and rewarding. It's so nice to finally see how it all comes together but it also forces you to confront the areas where it doesn't exactly match what you had in mind #gamedev
