Our college only gives us a half week for Thanksgiving. It is also raining today. Looking at the flurry of emails I’ve received from sick students this morning, either we should all quarantine again or the college should reassess its calendar.

I wouldn’t mind paying for a quality social media service as long as the following is true:
1. No ads / bots
2. Quality free services remain available
3. No manipulative algorithms
4. No crummy AI, weird service agreements, etc
I’ll gladly pay for added features, but not for mediocre services.

there are two ways to make money with user-generated content:
1. ads
2. subscriptions
and that's it as far as apps go; so Facebook is the unquestioned winner of #1, I've seen this myself running political ads this cycle on there & Twitter

Bluesky will be launching a subscription service by the end of the year. There are no details yet on how many tiers. Premium tiers will likely include higher-resolution pics, more/longer video uploads, and profile/page customization aesthetics. Longer term, there's a monetization plan for creators.

One thing that always “gets” me in Wicked: when Elphaba visits the Emerald City. She has been mocked her whole life for being green, but in this city green is everywhere and celebrated. As a gay man, this reminds me of how I felt the first time I visited Provincetown.

The next day, Gaetz withdrew from consideration when another victim came forward.

Even more prescient: the presidential candidate’s slogan in the sequel, Parable of the Talents: “Make America Great Again”. You need to read Octavia Butler— really all her stuff, but especially this book.
The Handmaid's Tale is a good book. But did you know that there's a book written by a Black woman about a post-apocalyptic Earth heavily affected by climate change and societal decline. The book was published in 1993, but is set in 2024 following a presidential election 👀 #BookSky #BlackBookSky
