Okay, real talk. I just spent a lot of my mental energy this morning scrolling through Bluesky and reposting things that pissed me off or made me angry. And I just can't do that anymore. I'm a queer non-binary person with a disabled partner. If I continue to doomscroll I will just shut down. 1/4
He truly doesn't seem to understand that the Nobel Peace Prize is a specific prize not just something you can say.
Rep. Buddy Carter: "Donald Trump deserves the Nobel Peace Prize. That's why I'm introducing a resolution today that will honor him with the Nobel Peace Prize."

(It doesn't work like that lol)

A rare bit of good news for the trans community in our constant fight against anti-trans bigots.
1. Anti-trans outrage is losing its bite.

Last week, Elon Musk led a mass boycott campaign to get trans characters removed from shows on the platform.

Major conservatives joined in.

Now, we have the result: the boycott was a fizzle, and Netflix stock is up.

Netflix Stock Up As Elon Musk's Anti-Trans Boycott Fails To Materialize
Last week, conservatives tried to cancel Netflix to force the carrier to remove transgender characters.

The truth of this story is that they are arguing that people defending themselves and their neighbors from jackbooted thugs justifies sending more jackbooted thugs to Chicago.

It really can't be said enough: the goal of the "anti-woke" movement was always to destroy social norms against bigotry. And it worked. And there's a whole lot of purportedly "left" thinkers & commentators who helped it -- indeed, it couldn't have been done without them.

They should feel bad.

They say she "stared down Antifa" as if there was anything even remotely dangerous about standing on a roof in Portland other than maybe getting a sunburn.
Portland is so good at trolling these fascists.

I ❤️ Portland

This is so damn scary. The book claimed that Jeffrey Epstein was the one who introduced Donald and Melania. Now the CEO of Harper UK is out.
In other news Charlie Redmayne, the long serving CEO of HC in the UK, resigned yesterday.

Are things good right now? No. But are there signs of better days ahead? Also no. Still, we know that it's all going to hold together one way or another, that we'll emerge from this better than we were, right? Yeah, no, probably not.

Nothing he says here is true. Nor is the chyron. Why does the mainstream media even exist if nobody is going to call out the fact that he is blatantly lying? Also, for the record, stores are opening in both Chicago and Portland, despite him saying that nobody has stores in those places anymore.
Trump: "You can’t even find any boats in the water anymore. Like a subway train loaded up with drugs. Every boat -- every single boat that you see getting taken out kills 25,000 Americans. Think of that. It’s pretty tough stuff. But it kills 25,000 Americans."

Why are the guys in tactical gear backing away and firing at the person in an inflatable frog suit? Can anybody truly justify that level of force, even if they are pepper balls?

I've lived in Chicago at two different times and can say, in no uncertain terms, that the biggest cause of crime in Chicago right now are the federal shock troops that are there, not the people of Chicago.
I wrote about Chicago: "Is this city burning? There is a definite answer to the question. In all these cities, the answer is no. No American city is currently on fire, and if Chicago is a war zone, it’s because it’s being invaded by the president."
Trump Is Waging War on an American City
The real threat to people in Chicago (and Los Angeles and Portland) is our maniacal president.

I love the 4x400m mixed relay. And this is an amazing anchor leg by Femke Bol.
The mixed 4×400m is the best thing that's happened to track lately and so is Femke Bol.

another data point of a Dem MORE popular on trans issues than they are in the abstract. As with abortion, the theory of a socially conservative electorate before whom libs must cringe is simply not borne out in general.
5. The CNU poll shows Spanberger with a commanding +10 lead in the governor’s race. When asked which candidate would better handle transgender issues, voters sided with Spanberger over Earle-Sears by a 50–37 margin, giving Spanberger a whopping +13 advantage.

What the fuck is wrong with this guy? "They don't even have stores anymore"? What about one of the most famous bookstores in the country? Or Voodoo Donuts? Or 1000s of other places but I prefer to think about books and donuts, so I'll focus on those two.
Trump: "I don't know what could be worse than Portland. You don't even have stores anymore. They don't even put glass up. They put plywood on their windows."

I've never fought in a war, thank goodness, but I'm pretty sure that this isn't what a warzone looks like. I may be wrong. I'm sure that a woman who, as governor, was banned from setting foot in a large portion of her state knows a warzone better than me.
Kristi Noem confronts enemy combatants in the Portland war zone today.

Literally the only takeaway from this speech should be that the supposed "Leader of the Free World" said "We took the freedom of speech away." Constitution be damned!
Trump: "We took the freedom of speech away because that's been through the courts and the courts said you have freedom of speech, but what has happened is when they burn a flag it agitates and irritates crowds."

There is no such thing as a 100% ethical billionaire. However, Gov. Pritzker is probably the closest thing we've got right now.
Pritzker: "He wants to militarize major cities because he wants us to get used to the idea of troops on the streets. I believe he's gonna post people outside of polling places and if he needs to in order to control those elections, he'll assume control of the ballot boxes & count the votes himself"
