Elizabeth Shaffer is from the old school that says: don't attempt to address the problem, let it be as dangerous as possible, eventually they'll learn.
also i told jamal osman on election night that elizabeth shaffer had won and he told me a story about asking for safe needle disposal in a park and shaffer saying no because it will "encourage drug use." he was just like "it'll encourage kids not stepping on needles!"

GOOD LUCK TO US ALL

One small reason Jacob Frey’s victory margin fell in 2025 compared to 2021 is 2025 turnout fell a bit in his strong areas (SW ward 13, far south central ward 11, NW north side ward 4) and rose in weakee ones (U-area Ward 2, south central Ward 8, Fateh-liking Ward 6) datawrapper.dwcdn.net/lIHhL/1/

I have a Minneapolis elections theory that may be way too simple: the 2025 mayor’s race was closer because Rank All 3 worked! It didn’t work well enough … but it worked. There were 13,300 more votes in 2025’s final round & Fateh got 10,300 of them!

Wisconsin State Senator confirms SNAP recipients in the state have received their November benefits.
Great news! Because of a recent court order, November SNAP benefits for Wisconsin recipients were made available overnight. Members should feel free to use the funds as they normally would.

“Roughly 80-89% of the world’s people want their governments to ‘do more’ to address #ClimateChange, and nearly 2/3rds are on board with that action costing them a bit. Yet most think they are the minority, telling pollsters they believe that only around 30% also want stronger climate action.”
The Media Is Complicit in the Climate Confusion
The vast majority of people want their governments to take climate action—but most wrongly think they’re in the minority. The media is partly to blame.

Frey pledging to just one final term is such a funny self indictment. Like, he’s saying ‘I know you don‘t really like me. I’ll go away soon. just give me one more term to hold these hippies at bay and then I’ll go away forever.‘

I guess it worked. His version of self awareness comes from polling.

A few post election thoughts:

1. Progressive wins in Mpls council and park board races was greatly aided by a robust mayoral race. In that sense Fateh, Davis, and Hampton assisted the overall mission. 4 years ago Frey won the council along with reelection. This time he won but lost down ballot.
