As the government's preferred EHRC leadership candidate, Mary-Ann Stephenson will have to meet with the Women and Equalities Committee prior to her appointment. One thing people can do is email members of the committee and ask them to scrutinise her position on transphobia.

This presumably means that every group, club or association with more than 25 members that is explicitly for a specific gender now must en masse expel every trans person? A massive trans purge from all men's and women's groups, whatever the legal structure of said group.
Private lesbian organizations over 25 members cannot admit trans women. Freedom of association be damned.

This is the stupidest thing I've ever seen a supposedly sane organisation commit to text. We can be banned from both men's and women's toilets, but also must not be banned from all toilets? Kafkaesque.
New interim guidance from the UK "Equality and Human Rights Commission." Trans people are effectively banned from all bathrooms.

Been trying since the decision hit, in my online trans circles, to be the calm and unafraid voice that counsels against panic and despair. But as the night has fallen I feel a chill on me beyond temperature. The world got colder for my UK sisters today.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given that I am closeted still (but not for much longer!) I don't have much time for the Trans Day of Visibility. Visibility is not what the trans community has needed for some time, at least in the sense of broad awareness that we exist at all.
