1/ On #InternationalWomensDay, let’s not forget that both online and offline spaces are becoming increasingly unsafe for women, whether in their home countries or exile.

A painful reality enabled by governments, private sector companies, and society alike.

DAMASCUS:

In the heart of Damascus, panic this moment in the Malki area. Assad's main residence is located here, the area is fortified with regime forces that are now fleeing.

This is clearly the regime falling apart at it's very core.

BREAKING:

Reports that rebels in the city of Daraa have taken over the notorious airforce intelligence branch, following a withdrawal of Assad's forces from Museifra area east of the city.

If true, extremely significant, and marks a new phase in a war that is only a week old.

Swaida, a city in southern Syria which is home to the Druze religious minority, are out in the thousands demonstrating their support of the Syrian rebellion against the Assad regime.

The sectarian divisions that Assad was successful in fueling amongst Syrians is falling apart.

Only Syrians truly grasp the significance of Hafez Al Assad's statue head battered on the road like this.

When he died in 2000, essentially handing over power to Bashar (his son) Syrians were whispering to each other the news, scared shitless even after he was gone.

The audacity to claim concern for children in Gaza while shamelessly ignoring the same atrocities inflicted on children in Syria is nothing short of revolting. Integrity is standing by both victims, whatever the cost, otherwise you're just exploiting their suffering for an agenda.

For many Syrians standing in full solidarity with the people of Gaza was not a choice but an imperative. Even when it meant that we would rally alongside the very scum who aided Assad in the mass murder of our people, we still did it. I expect no less from conscious Palestinians.
