The surest way to corrupt youth is to convince them to hold in higher esteem those who think alike than those who think differently.
So it turns out the Liberals wouldn't let me use a fake name to vote in their leadership race, so I guess that's a win.

The Ontario Liberals are demonstrating exceptional vote inefficiency.

Oh, right. Sportsball.

I didn't realize that was today.

Retaliating against Trump's tariffs is idiotic.

Yes, the tariffs are bad. Yes, they will do harm to Canadians.

But retaliation would also do harm to Canadians, and it would allow Trump to point to the retaliation and blame Canada for any hardship arising from the tariffs.

Mark Carney has already spent six figures on ads.

He only declared as a candidate two weeks ago.

Leadership contests are constrained by the same fundraising rules as elections.

I really look forward to seeing the fundraising data once Elections Canada gets it.

I left Twitter because it devolved into people shouting at each other, unwilling to engage on a topic in good faith.

Bluesky is now doing the same.

So I might have to abandon this, too.

Social media might just not be for me.

I freaked out because I thought I saw a man in the women’s bathroom but it was just the mirror.

Don’t make it so obvious that this is your first chariot race. Act like you’ve Ben Hur before.

The CMHC actively harms Canadians. Any politician who promises to eliminate it wins my vote.

The trouble with social media is that it assumes I care about the things about which other people care.

Spending the weekend pirating laserdiscs while playing Axis and Allies in the next room is a prominent childhood memory.

If a system is harmful, subvert it. If a system is dangerous, subvert it.

Find loopholes and exploit them. Undermine confidence in it. Question it, publicly, over and over.

With Donald Trump being inaugurated tomorrow, it would be cool if Canada had a functioning government sooner rather than later.

As an Albertan living in BC, I find the ongoing Canadian hostility toward Alberta quite troubling.

Canadian provinces ranked by installed solar generation capacity as a percentage of total installed generation capacity of all types:

AB: 8.3%
ON: 5.3%
SK: 0.7%
PEI: 0.2%
NS: 0.1%

All others are <0.1%

Only Alberta and Ontario have significant installed solar capacity.

Rather than taking Greenland or Canada, wouldn't the US be better off trying to retake the Philippines?

Then why is BC having so much trouble?
What’s breaking Canada is the Conservative provincial premiers.

My prediction for January 6:

Nothing will happen. Perfectly normal Monday.

"Canada joins the EU" would be hilarious.
The first We're Here of 2025 is in your inbox!

Hank talks about a job he would never want, dogs were good last year (as usual), and there's a reason train tracks are quiet.
